Works great for me. I even repeated the process on my steam deck and now am happily playing modded OpenMW on it.
Just make sure any mods you use don't rely on code patches, as those code patches will not be compatible with OpenMW.
From my initial approach what I read is that MGE XE (morrowind graphic extender) doesn´t work on OpenMW,and therefor neither do all mods requiering it. But at the same time I do have seen pictures of people playing OpenMW and it does look quite good, so I pressume there´s a work around or another graphic overhaul different than MGE XE.
But if we are talking code here... are you refering to the script extender? because that´s more serious, if script extender doesn´t work on OpenMW then that´s a lot more mods that wouldn´t work on it.
And please people, refrain yourself for mentioning stuff like Mod Organizer 2. I ask about OpenMW and Nexus, and Nexus mod organizaer is Vortex. Please do not start mentionind a thousand other mod installers or mod pagesbecause that´s not what I´m asking and have 0 interest in those.
It isn't as pretty as MGE XE, but I prefer a more vanilla look with updated mesh and texture mods anyway. And it's a fair tradeoff for stability.
Sold. Stability is the reason I made the thread, if OpenMW is indeed more stable then modded regular MW then I will play that. I personally don´t even care for graphics, I like Morrowind graphic except for the fog and the viewing distance. My visual overhaul mod list in most Bethesda games is pretty low to be honest, I don´t even like Unreal Engine games, all that motion blur, ray tracing, dynamic shadows, antislashing... it´s all ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and smoke and mirrors to me, 100% will always prefer style and artistic vision over "realistic graphic", as they look mostly as part of the uncanny valley.
