Why are groundcover/ grass mods just the worst for this game?
I have tried vurts and another grass mod and they are a nightmare to run. They either cause errors when loading or in vurts case you cant clip through the grass it actually makes an impassable barrier and looks awful

It just doesn't work well on Morrowind, does it. It's a very clunky old engine. Funny enough, the only time I agreed with grass and plant mods was in that awful MGSO pack. Everything else didn't work. Now I am just playing Vanilla.

Because you're installing them wrong. Vurts clearly says in the description to only use it for loading distant terrain, and then make sure the esps are disabled (but still in the data folder) when playing the game. It makes the grass not solid objects.

Right on the download page:

copy data files to your /morrowind directory

In MGE go to Distant Land Setup Wizard, tick the Vurt Groundcover .esp and click continue, generate distant land.

Remember that these .esp's should not be ticked in the Morrowind Launcher, they're only for MGE

Follow instructions for mods, otherwise you're gonna have bad times.

^^ totally agree ^^ why?
I've been modding Fallout/Elder-scroll games since Morrowind first came out. I still use the CD version. Vert's mods are my go to in both franchises. But that are not 'plug n play.' You must read carefully, and follow Vert;s instructions. The results are worth the extra effort. IMHO.

Are these the mods that say they are for Morrowind Rebirth? Can you use them without?

I have a problem with Remiros groundcover

It's not looking anything like the videos on youtube of it (including one in 0.47 announcement video of openmw channel) or like the screenshots on nexus page. Instead of loads of grass I get a few tufts here and there.

https://modding-openmw.com/mods/remiros-groundcover/

Followed these instructions putting the data paths it suggests (but following my computer's file routes obviously) in openmw.cfg and inserted the instructed settings in settings.cfg and made sure to NOT turn on any plugins in openmw launcher as the nexus page instructs you to not do.

Even tried putting the density to 1.0 instead of 0.5 but made no difference

EDIT: SOLVED MY OWN ISSUE! SOME AREAS ARE SIMPLY QUITE BARE STILL. GO TO VIVEC FOR EXAMPLE AND LOADS OF GRASS
