Resolution Issues
How do I play the game in 1920x1080 resolution without crashing? Anyone got any fixes?

It's pretty easy.

First download and install Morrowind Code Patch: https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/19510

Then download Morrowind Graphic Extender: https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/41102

Just open it and you see resolution option. It should be 1920x1080 by default. Then just close the program and you're done!

That's how I did it and it worked

Or use openMW which also has a UI scaling option.
I just started using OPENMW.
It allowed me to change the res and added alot of vanilla friendly stuff, such as view distance, better water/rain, shadows etc.

Newest version of OpenMW 0.48.0 even has post processing, game looks very good.
It also has head bobbing and stuff like that.

I totally agree. OpenMW makes the game so much more stable, too. It never crashes for me now.

Morrowind-Resolution-Fix-for-Windows-10-No-Mods-

1.*Install and launch Morrowind at least once, set all settings to desired levels

2.*Open Regedit

3.*Find this Entry in the registry

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind

4.*Find "Screen Height" and "Screen Width"

5.*Change the circle-tick from "Hexadecimal" to "Decimal" for both the Screen Width and Height

*Set Height Decimal to 1080

*Set Width Decimal to 1920

6.*Don't modify any game settings after that

Enjoy

I found this on internet. It works. I just changed the Resolution with this Hint today.
NO MODS NEEDED!

If you don't know what you're doing, it's much safer to mod than dig around in regedit. I would not point people to regedit at all, personally.

Yeah ok, i understand your Point. To be honest, i have no clue from regedit but with this Hint it was no Problem for me to change the Resolution. It was simpel.

It's not bad advice, it's just registry editing can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing is all. If it works, it's fine though.

OP this is what you need!!! I just bought the steam version a couple days ago and had the same issue. I followed this video and it was very simple and thorough to follow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7IHk_W1lpI&t=0s

He goes through the big 3 mods/patches/downloads (all from nexus) that are basically a must for playing Morrowind in 2022 and made the game look way better and full screen. I tried doing it myself based on these other responses and threads on reddit but i couldn't get it to work, but this video breaks it down for the less technically advanced!

He also goes through some very little technical things that are great to know.

Enjoy!
