stuck with no way to go forward

I played this long ago when it first came out, things are different in this version. Now I have met with Vivec and am inside the ghostfence and looking to defeat the off Dagoth's to get the hammer and sword, but I get nowhere. What am I missing?

Can you be more clear what the problem is?

You climb up the mountain, kill the two dagoths in their little fortresses, then go to the center of the volcano and kill dagoth Ur.

Before fighting Dagoth Ur, there are two ash vampire bases you need to hit, as those two bases each have an artifact you need. The first place you need to go is Vemynal, so that you can kill Dagoth Vemyn and get Sunder. The second place is Odrosal, because its' leader, Dagoth Odros, has Keening. Once you have those two artifacts, it's time for the final showdown.
