run the game launcher from the game folder and NOT from steam library or icon. sometimes an error msg appears not hidden by steam.
check windows event viewer and reliability history. they may have an error event.
I have little experience with windows 11, but i know even win10 does not include the directX libs needed for this game by default. And for some reason the Steam depot does not include the dx9 redist package for this game.
Make sure you have the dx9 redist package installed if you run any dx9 or older games on modern systems
I'd suggest backing up your save files and then doing a fresh reinstall of Morrowind without any mods and going form there
I personally do not use Win11 (although I have helped a few friends out here with the OS) or 10, but have used/built/diagnosed enough to see a couple of things here.
The game worked on Win10, which was nicely set up for you. Updating to Win11 meant it installed with all its defaults. How many layers of Ransomware and UAC control ???.......
First, verify integrity of game files
Second, ensure your game exe/ save folder/ ini folder are excluded from anti-virus, windows defender etc.
Third, set game etc to run as administrator.
Fourth, run in compatibility mode.
Lastly if that has not worked, download and install (google microsoft) all-in-one runtimes/ directx
I run Win7 and do not care how "unsafe" some might consider that. Whenever I manage to afford to get another pc, it is going to run Linux.
