Why is BloodMoon so difficult?
Like for real, this has to be one of if not the hardest game I have ever played. It not only feels difficult at times, but impossible. Especially if you choose the werewolf side. It feels impossible, in Skyrim and Oblivion you are able to really steer clear of some damage and whittle the health away of some enemies. But even if I am heavy armor, close combat, restoration magic, I get crushed.

Blood moon was the last expansion meant for high level characters who've completed the main story and tribunal. The content for that quest line is around level 30 to 50 (I think it's level 40 before you even see random werewolves which are meant to be normal encounters there).

This. The opponents that are typically found in both Expansions usually have twice the health/damage, if not more, than those typically found in the normal game. They're meant to be attempted at higher levels, as the enemies themselves don't scale, meaning that it's easier to attempt the expansions at higher levels when the character has higher stats and more equipment.

Have a read of the link, it should provide some useful Werewolf tips.

As a Werewolf, the only variable stat that you have is your Health, which is mainly dependant on the character's level. Everything else comes pre-set. So again, this is best attempted with a high level character.

You're also quite fast as a Werewolf, so when fighting as one, it's a good idea to try and use 'hit and run' tactics than just charging in and mashing attack. Run in, hit an enemy once, run away before they have a chance to respond hitting, repeat.

If you're still finding things too difficult as a Werewolf, I'm pretty sure there's an option to get cured. Or you could return to the mainland, level up a bit, then try the quests again.

Ah, that explains a lot. I kept getting destroyed in Bloodmoon. No wonder. Thanks guys I will keep that in mind for next playthrough.

Gotcha, no wonder I had to cheat through. By using console commands to fly through that dumb maze thing and to turn down difficulty to defeat certain foes.

The author of the wiki article notes that "combat-wise, this is probably the most difficult quest in the entire game". It also highly recommends NOT attempting it as a Werewolf, and waiting the time out so that you can complete the quest with items.

So yeah, pretty tricky. If you were to attempt it again, it's probably best to attempt as a high-level combat character [say 50+], with a lot of enchanted equipment and potions for backup. I'd probably do the Main Quest first as well: Wraithguard and Sunder pack quite a punch.

That maze is like the hardest quest in any of the elder scrolls in my opinion

I'd say fighting Gedna Relvel at a high level can be quite the slog [potentially 60,000 Health if the character is level 70 something], but I suppose this doesn't exactly count as a 'quest'. There's also several tricks one can use to get the fight over with quickly [such as drinking one's body weight in Sujamma, to Fortify Strength and thus Melee Damage to ridiculous levels]. The Hircine quest is long and drawn out, which adds another level of difficulty to it all.

I'd certainly say it's harder than quests in other Elder Scrolls. Though attempting Kvatch at Max Difficulty and a fairly high level comes pretty close...

See I actually made it through most of Kvatch at low level with only a bow at the hardest difficulty. This pro-Hircine quest was the most hard thing ever.

Kvatch is easy at a low level. It's when you're level 20 or so in the hardest difficulty that it's really hard because all the enemies are high level daedra and there's lots of them. At low level it's just stunted clannfears and scamps.

The worst thing about oblivion by far was the terrible level scaling.

I attempted it at level 17 when I tried it (and documented it in the guide). Took me a fair few goes through to figure out the best way to do it.

The problems encountered are similar to the Hircene quest: There’s quite a few fights in enclosed spaces vs multiple opponents that are way stronger than you. The first area in particular is like you and the Captain vs 10 Daedra, 3 of which are ‘Boss’ Daedra (Spider Daedra for level 17 characters), and there’s next to no room to run around in without getting swarmed.

My character had to basically use every trick in te book that they had to get through at that level. Because yeah, Oblivion scaling was pretty shocking. A lot of players/characters around level 20 or so just started finding the game too difficult.
