Join the mages guild for free restocking magicka potions.
And I don't know if it still works, but summoning a flame atronach and firing fire spells at him until it reflects and hopefully you absorb is another trick of regaining magicka.
I feel I might be in trouble later on so your shrine method should work. Can a spell directed to myself be absorb? Like if I make a fire damage one on me or w/e.
You don't even need to use an offensive spell for the method to work. ANY spell will work, even spells from the Restoration school, as long as you're the target of the spell. One method I've seen suggested is to summon something that uses spell, then attack it until it's angry at you, so you can absorb its spells. As a Dunmer, this is something that you can already do once a day, as Dunmer have the Summon Ancestor Ghost ability.
One more question. What are the best way to make money as a mage? I'm playing rebirth thought and I know it fixes some abuses.
Failing that, I would try the Museum of Artifacts, in the Godsreach district of Mournhold (City of LIght! City of Magic). The museum's curator, Torasa Aram, will buy artifacts from you, and you can get quite a pretty penny from this. There are 32 eligible artifacts for this, and the amount of gold you can get varies between them, from 250 for the Boots of Blinding Speed to 30,000 for Chrysamere. The main problem with this is that a lot of those artifacts are quest rewards or quest items, so getting them will take a lot of legwork, and two of them (the Mace of Slurring and the Robe of the Lich) are just plain difficult and dangerous to get.
