The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

OpenMW versus Normal Morrowind Modding
What's the advantages. OpenMW seems to have hardly any mods yet everyone likes OpenMW more, any particular reason? I also can't configure my mods in the main menu like you can normally! I'm not saying it's bad, maybe i'm missing something hence why I'm asking here!

OpenMW also comes with built in graphical features such as terrain shadows, drawing distance, diagonal movement, actor shadows, zoom-able map and all kinds of other graphical enhancements that Morrowind normally needs scripts and hacks to do anyways. OpenMW is cross platform, has multiplayer support (TES3MP is a fork of OpenMW), and has way better stability than vanilla Morrowind.
oh that's cool. i wish i had the same experience but right now all my textures seem to be broken. like the leaves around trees, mushrooms, house roofs have black borders and it's so annoying

Can you tell me what texture mod(s) you're using? Maybe I can give you some help. If its a problem I can not solve, there is a support form for OpenMW that could be helpful.

none at all!

From what I read, those problems maybe just caused by old mods or modifications to your Morrowind.ini. Try doing a fresh re-install.

I'm no specialist but I don't see how mods or modifications to .ini could cause vanilla transparent textures to appear non-transparent.
The first thing I would try is update/rollback video drivers. Or abandon OpenMW

I went ahead and reinstalled everything. Learned the issue was Morrowind Optimization Patch which was weird.

Hm no it's not weird at all. Messing with meshes, textures and texture shading is exactly what MOP does, you should've mentioned you were using it heh.

but like project Atlas doesn't mess up all that. nor do "correct meshes" dunno why specifically that mod.

Project atlas has to load after mop probably your issue. Also could be esp that you never turned on if you have esp mods.

I would also say its actually the other way around majority of people on here fan boy vanilla modding too btw.

We have had several discussions covering the topic. There is other ones but they stray or are not really grounded well enough.

oh okay. it's just most videos/discussions/modding guides say to grab OpenMW. personally i gave up though and just went to vanilla modding. i understand it a bit more and there's a few things i miss from OpenMW (the cool over the shoulder camera that automatically switches shouldder) but i'll live

So, you can just install the mods you want for Morrowind in the normal way, if they are compatible with openmw then the game will automatically detect the plug ins and allow you to run them. It will also work with your replacers. If something is not open mw compatible I would not bother with it if you want to run openmw.
