A question i have about Telvanni Hortator

I've killed master Gothren Before talking to aryon while doing telvanni Hortator and he said to kill gothren even though i've already killed him and i disposed of his body so i cant use the ressurect command to bring him back for example. so do i:
go back to aryon and see if he will have different dialogue, Or Go back to my Earliest save before killing gothren and Talk to aryon first?

go back to aryon, his death should still be registered, you can always go back to an earlier save if for some reason it does not work

In such cases console commands which might help are: AddTopic (adds the specified topic to the current NPC dialogue) and Journal (adds an entry to your journal for a particular integer stage of a particular quest). Be sure to save before experimenting with console.
