Help with Soul Trap Exploit

I know how to do the exploit and no I'm not using mods (100% vanilla). I'm currently a Breton with the Apprentice Sign, when I perform this exploit, the effect I want that becomes permanent appears for a moment in active effects (less than the actual duration), then vanishes.

So I was wondering if it is because of the Breton resistance to magic that is causing it, or is there something I'm missing?

Yep it is.
1. Do not use Breton to get that exploit.
2. Make a copy or separate save before trying the exploit. Have seen many save game broken completely by it.
3. I do not believe the exploit works with OpenMW, they fixed the glitch.

Welp, that answers that question then :L, had hoped the apprentice sign would "negate" the breton resist magic x)

Actually there was a way to do it with a Breton, but it has been years, I mean years since I tried that exploit for fun. Chose the wrong constant spell and totally made a mess of my save file.
Buttt.....just for the cheats amongst you. Should not....but....your game.
Buy Weakness to Magicka potions or spells. You see where that is going?

Welp, I'm trying this with a high elf, and well...its still not working at least for "Shield", yet it kind of works for feather. So I'm at a loss.

Edit: I guess it doesn't show up in active effects, but apparently it is working. Tested with Fortify Strength. Had hoped Shield would show up at Armor, but apparently not. Meanwhile Frost Damage on Self for 1 damage can't be made into a continuous effect.

Well....some spells do not work with it.
Hopefully no other "cheats" will come and see this....https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Glitches, now you know a lot of little cheats in the game! Please do not spoil the game or your enjoyment (although I understand the wish to try these things out. How else do I know them!) Soul trap glitch is towards the bottom.

I already seen that link and I have played the game a lot in the past (hundreds of hours) so using it won't ruin my enjoyment x)

Unfortunately it didn't really help with my original question that I had in the OP.

Well lots of sites out there which will say exactly how to perform it. I remember finding out it had to be an exact way....cannot remember a little glitch from 10 years ago that clearly. And there was a site which gave what spells worked and which did not, probably does not exist anymore.

Apprentice, was thinking of attaching Soul Absorption to it as a passive effect. Just wished it would show up in the active effects lol

Just a quick thought over your original question.
Are you using OpenMW? Glitch does not work if you do.
