So if I were you, I would go for the followings:
1. If going for Light Armor, try to get Sanctuary spell and/or raise Agility as quick as possible to avoid getting hits often.
2. I know you said you are considering light armor, but there are 2 heavy armor pieces that are very light. You can do this quest for Mistress Therana and get enchanted daedric cuirass and greaves with Feather 50 points each (https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Auriel%27s_Bow_(quest)). You can do this even if you do not belong to house Telvanni. I particularly like Daedric Greaves with Feather 50 points as a quest reward since there are not many unique greaves out there and this has highest armor rating + only costs 4 weight after feather effect.
3. After mid/late game, i'm sure you will see Golden Saints or Ascended Sleepers often, especially in daedric ruins. Try to soul trap them so that you can do Constant Effect enchantments on your gears. Exquisite clothings are the best for it. For example, exquisite shirt, pants, and skirt have 60 enchantment points. Fortify Strength Constant Effect costs 5 enchantment points per raising Strength attribute by 1. This means for each exquisite shirt/pants/skirt you can already have Fortify Strength 12 points per piece (total 36 strength bonus). I play around with this to maximize strength and other attributes in mid/late game, giving me more weapon damage output and higher carry weight.
Also if you do not mind losing some base armour rating later on try the"Telvanni Cephalopod Helm" it can hold 100 enchant, nothing else comes close.
But if you go Light Armour carry a few smithing hammers, they do wear quick.
