I decided to revisit it and play mostly vanilla. The mods that I used help the game adjust to modern hardware and fix bugs, but the experience is for the most part the original one in terms of looks, mechanics and so on.

I use OpenMW but other than that, nothing. I quite like the graphics and the colours. I know, I know.

No. The vanilla game is awful with inexplicable mechanics/features and trashy, out of mind controls and UI, and truckload of bugs and errors that the developer did not even bother to look at. I cannot think of playing this on full vanilla with no modification whatsoever.
as cool as the game was at its time, things like balance breaking bugs, extremely short render distance, and the game's inability to look proper in the modern 1080p standard makes it feel really dated. so no, i do play with atleast a bare minimum.

I just use the MCP and MGE, but ultimately could very well play vanilla only.

sounds like you dont like the game in general, lol. i find the mechanics/features to be the best part

I play using OpenMW + Patch for Purists for bug fixes, and I use the Expansion Delay mod to prevent becoming OP at level 1. It doesn't make sense from a lore perspective for a level 1 nobody to be attacked by the Dark Brotherhood, and those guy's armor is the second best light armor in the game...not to mention super expensive. You can wear it or sell it to become super rich and then just spam trainers to level up fast. And the assassins keep on coming, so you can just rest, get attacked, kill them, sell their loot, pay for training, the repeat until you're a god. With the mod, I don't get attacked until I get through a significant portion of the main quest.

I too, find myself the fact that stealing an item from a random character will hence forth mark that specific item as being stolen even if the item is later acquired legally as one the best part about the game's mechanic.

Sarcasm aside, I probably didn't have to mention something about mechanics and features, since most of Morrowind's mechanic I found silly are also the one that falls under the category of game's control, which I also mentioned.

bruh broken mechanics, balance breaking bugs are the main appeal and the fun of morrowind, any bug fix decreases the fun of the game imo.

hell no

It was good for its time back then but nowadays I want to see more than 20 meters infront of me.

I do, I can still play it without any mods and still find myself immersed and having fun.
I can’t say the same about Skyrim through, I don’t think I would play that game without mods.

This is one of my first playthroughs so, yes I am playing vanilla. I do, however, intend to get a few basic quality of life mods.
