and there doesn't seem to be any known bugs specifically around this.
Personally, I'd either load a save or make a physical save now.
Then I'd open console and enter:
Journal, B3_ZainabBride 20
This should set the quest to the point where he asks you his further favour.
This comes with a health warning. I don't use console commands in Morrowind and I'm not familiar with the knock on effects which can come to light some way down the quest.
In other games, something like this is fairly harmless, but there are no guarantees. So keep a save from now, just in case.
