Becoming a vampire?
Hey y'all, trying to become a vampire for eltonbrand-related purposes, but I'm a little bit stuck given I'm far enough in the main story to have innate disease resistance. I've tried some workarounds to try to allow myself to be susceptible to the infection, but nothing seems to work. I'm trying to get the vampires in the ancestral tomb southeast of khuul to infect me by both checking their bodies repeatedly and also letting them physically attack me. I've attempted to craft a spell that inflicts weakness to disease of between 40 and 80 points on myself, but even with the spell effect on it seems impossible to get any prompt indicating infection to come up. I should mention I am unaware of what it looks like when you actually gets infected as I have never done this before in other playthroughs, so I'm not sure if I should just keep repeatedly checking vampire bodies until a prompt appears or if there is some other indicator.

According to UESP, once you reach that point in the main story-line, the only workaround that stands a chance of working is to cast a 100% Weakness to Common Disease spell on yourself. In other words, you've been casting the right spells on yourself, but they've been too weak. Furthermore, there's only a small chance of infection per melee attack, and AFAIK, that chance isn't cumulative. Also, there's that thing about it being transmitted via MELEE attacks; spells won't work. UESP advises repeatedly searching the body of a vampire. If you get infected with Porphyric Hemophilia, the disease that turns you into a vampire, the game will tell you; you'll see a message telling you that at the bottom of the screen.

Thank you so much, glad to know I'm on the right track. Catch me using console commands to set my destruction to 100 for this :/

I would recommend against using console commands for this, as console commands can get sketchy if you don't understand exactly what they'll do and how to use them. Instead, I recommend the normal methods of getting your Destruction that highe; i.e, trainer NPCs combined with practice. It's safer, even if it takes longer.
