i do have one question tho: if one performs a Steam verify of game files integrity, wont that revert the file to a corrupted one?
not sure, I don't use the steam version to play. I always thought it odd that steam would put its fingers in the .exe to put their stamp on it. So switched to retail.
However, that too should answer your question - apparently depending on a mod, that particular file is corrupt in all versions.
I also did not want to use codecs to fix one file. Since the "age-of-codecs" went out with windows xp. these days, you can just fix the mp3 :-). If it was a codec issue, all the mp3's of the game would not play. This was an issue of just one file :-)
Glad it worked our!
