i think i'm stuck because of a bug?

TL;DR: I have "sul-matuul" and "mehra milo and the lost prophecies" in my journal and can't make progress in any of those

I'm not sure but i think i might be stuck in the main quest line,
To summarize; I'm in the part when Caïus tells us to go to the Urshikalu's camp and talk to sul-matuul, which I did. Sul-matuul then send us retrieve his father's bow, which i also did. I brought him his bow and then he told me to speak to Maesa, i spoke to her and she sent me get some books from the dissident priest, I talked to Gilvas Barelo and he gave me 2 books and a piece of paper about nerevarin. And after that nothing, i came back to the urshikalu's camp, Maesa didn't get any new dialogue after i got those books, neither did sul-matuul. I went back to Balmora to talk to Caïus and same thing, he tells me i have to talk to sul-matuul which i already did a while ago.
The weirdest part is that when Gilvas Barelo gave me these Books it triggered the quest "mehra milo and the lost prophecies", which from what i read on internet is the 9th quest of the main stroryline, but sul-matuul is the 6th quest, so now i'm stuck with two main quests in my journal and apparently no way of making progress in any of those.
Did I do something wrong? Can anyone help me please?

First, when you went back to Maesa after giving the bow to Sul-Matuul, did you ask her if you "pass the test"? Second, did you just start dialogue with Maesa after getting the books, or did you read them? Asking about "pass the test" and reading the books are what the game wants you to do. UESP suggests that doing both of those things are required to actually get the quest to the point where you can report back to Caius.

I read the books immediately after getting them, I don't think the "pass the test" dialogue option was available when i went back to Maesa but I'm playing in french so i might have to double check, although i'm pretty sure i tried every dialogue options that were available out of despair. I will try again tommorow and i'll tell you. Anyway thanks for the quick answer

Quick update, I tried different things that didn't work so I finally decided to use console commands to complete the quest. I kinda feel bad for doing that but it's the only way I could continue the main quest. I hope i didn't mess anything up but it seems to be fine

If I don't find a solution i'll just quit this game (that I really enjoyed). i don't have time to start over a new game.

hi, almost a year later, I got a lot more experience with this game (I am currently on my 5th playthrough hehe). When i played back in july of 2020, I accidentaly talked to Gilvas Barelo which is a npc for later in the questline, don't worry about him for now. Once you've talked to nibani maesa and received the journal entry "now it's time to report back to caius", you should be able to talk to caius and ask him for new orders. If it doesn't work, try the console command:
journal A2_1_MeetSulMatuul 60
Then you should be able to report to Caius.

Tu gères, c'est exactement ce qu'il me fallait. Ca m'a bien débloqué le dialogue avec Caius comme je voyais sur d'autres sujet dans le même genre.
J'ai crû que j'allais plus jamais jouer à ce jeu ^^

Merci à vous deux @Tilo et @Dan Ly , j'étais désespéré et je croyais ne plus pouvoir avancer dans le jeu (et donc devoir tout recommencer du début). Mais tout est débloqué désormais !

Content que ça puisse aider même 4ans plus tard ! Entre temps j'ai refait plein de parties de morrowind et je suis toujours bloqué à ce moment là haha. J'oublie toujours de parler à Caius.
