The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

What's your favourite house you call home in Morrowind?
Where do you live in Morrowind? And why did you choose that place?

I ended up having quite a few houses that my character called home depending where in the world he was questing and clearing out dungeons.

But my favourite and definite true home was Hlaalo Manor in Balmora. Three levels, a balcony, a large storage room, close proximity to public transport routes.. not to mention a dead body with infinity storage (he was like that when I got there I swear), what more could you want haha. Just shut the nosy maid in her shoebox room and the mansion is all yours!

Obviously Morrowind doesn't have all the lovely property owner upgrades Oblivion & Skyrim have so you've pretty much gotta do all the work yourself lol! So I covered the outside in torches to make it look like flaming fortress, I filled the inside with coloured lights I'd looted throughout my 5 year game and I filled the shelves with cool armour sets. I also added several cool mods to increase the immersion too.. Firstly I inserted mannequins that I equipped with full steel plate armour to look like my guards, then a cape mod to make the mannequin guards all look like Paladins & my regular hired guards look like Ebony Crusaders, and finally a cat mod because.. well I like cats lol. The Mannequin mod also gives you the Suran city dancing girls so I couldn't resist putting them to good use in the upstairs bedroom... Yeah I know.. sorry lol!

Here's a video of my home along with some of the other houses I used while being off far away adventuring. :)

I live with Crassius Curio, we do kinky stuff together.
I like the abandoned shack that is north of Gnaar Mok, it gives me my own little private island.
You decorated everything with blue lamps too, I see. I assume the red lamps came from a mod, since I only found one when I played Morrowind.

I mostly used Hlaalo Manor, Balmora Morag Tong prison cell, and Balyn Omavel's house. All three close to each other, all three have corpses for unlimited storage, and there's a guild guide, silt strider, and propylon chamber nearby.
Outside of mods, the Telvanni Stronghold is pretty legit. If you can get over that you have to levitate to get to certain areas, it's a great home (Though the location isn't great) complete with it's own large dungeon and everything. Perfect for your mage characters. The Hlaluu stronghold is pretty good too since it's so close to Balmora. Both are well worth the coin it costs to build them.

Mods wise Asgard is really nice, and I also got a pack that gives you several residences in different cities - the vivec one for that is really nice and easily accessible.

I spent 5 years clearing out every single dungeon in the game so I got a LOT of stuff haha. However yeah I think once I'd completely finished the game and there was truly nothing left to do or anywhere to go I used the console to create a few extra red lanterns due to them being so darn rare!
Hlaalo Manor in Balmora.

having friends over for dinner is always interesting:
"Jan, can you give me a hand and grab the dessert please."
"sure! er... where is it?"
"see that dead body over there? search inside his jacket."
(door slams)
"Jan? Jan? ...they always leave before dessert, my cooking's not that bad :( "

See, you just need to make better friends. I've heard Dedaenc in St. Delyn plaza might be less judgemental.

How in the world do you stick with a character like that? I have to restart every time I reach level 10 lol

I took lots of breaks to play other games over the 5 years haha. I maxed out the character pretty quickly so the game became more about exploring, adventuring and looting the best stuff for my homes. Soon I'll be starting a similar 'OCD' journey in Oblivion, will be interesting to see if it takes me 5 years again lol!
I confess I play so weirdly, that I haven't really used any of the "normal" housing in the game. Years ago I found a mod that added a small house in Seeyda Neen that you had to solve a murder to get. Small, nice and i really feel nostalgic about the city.

I recently found a mod that added a house on a little Island on the Odai south of Balmora. I'm playing around with that one now.

Thats not a mod dude, thats the original game xD

Well, doesn't exist in my "not using that mod version"
No, the mod adds a house near Fargoth's. In the original (unmodded) there are two in that area. The mod adds a third one.

Sigh. Still haven't found it again.

However the "house on the island" south of Balmorra is cute and fun.
Fargoth has a little rectangular house near one of the bridges. There is another house "across" from his. Not a shack. The "third" house (in the mod) shows up next to Fargoths house and it's similar. Has a bunkbed type thing, and the ladder only gets you up, you have to jump down.
I had the old Ravenloft mod portable mansion thing that I adored and had the thing furnished everywhere. That was my 10 year off and on game with my first character. Never did finish the story, but then, my old copy of Daggerfall was glitched so for a while I didn't actually know Bethesda games had a story to do. I just liked to run around.

On another character I settled in Hlaalu Manor, and I would set up shop in the Mages Guild in Balmore quite frequently, in the little area with the beds, cupboard, and table.

I like caves though, and there was a smuggler's cave I used to hang out in but I forget where it was. I can picture the area in my head, but I can't recall the name. It was an area that resembled Ald Ruhn for architecture.
