PC requirements for S.T.E.P.-like mod installation.
Morrowind players with heavily modded (i.e. hi-res textures, meshes, and shaders) installations, what combo of CPU, graphics card and settings are you using that allows you to play at least at 1080p(or higher), 60+ FPS in towns like Balmora, Ebonheart, Sadrith Mora and Hirstaang Forest?

My combination of Ryzen 5 1600 OC'ed to 3.9 GHz and GTX 1070 had me dropping to the low thirties in Ebonheart, forties in Balmora and Sadrith Mora.

I'm well aware of the engine's limitations so maybe I was expecting too much and AMD's CPUs are not the fastest. Is a graphic overhaul of Morrowind capable of achieving 60+FPS, at 1080p+? If so, with what hardware? Exclusively Intel CPUs with better single threaded performance?

I'm not above doing a sort of "enhanced vanilla" playthrough with FHD resolution, slighly better vanilla models and textures and a few shaders to enhance visuals.

Yeah, you're fine. Morrowind mods aren't very hardware-heavy, no matter how good they look.

Yeah, if you do experience lag its most likely the engine itself as its quite old.

One thing you need to know is that engine Bethesda uses in their games, can't handle framerate over 60, because it's tied to physics. if you force it, some weird things will probably happen
