Spellcasting in this game?
How similar is it to oblivion/skyrim? Do you just shoot elemental balls like oblivion or are there flamethrower-like spells like in skyrim?

if i needed to pick one thing separating spellcasting in each of these, i'd say...

in skyrim it's dual-wielding of spells and concept of equipable spells in general. in oblivion it's casting while wielding a weapon. and in morrowind it's... spellmaking, enchanting and amount or spells in general. you can create so many spells and enchantments that it's even ridiculous.

overall it's probably more like oblivion, where you shoot projectiles. and instead of flamethrower-like spells you casts spells with continuous effects.

It's more like oblivion, but with way more spells including ones like levitate, super jump, teleportation, and more flexibility in spell making

It's like Oblivion, but it occupies both your hands like dual-casting in Skyrim. It's not as convenient to mix spells with weapons and shields as Oblivion. And instead of spell-making altars, you have to find people who provide that service. On the other hand, some of those people barter, so if you have things to sell (or have broken the barter system with fortify mercantile) then you can get your money back.

You can use magic with any kind of weapon and usually consists of fireball type spells, never flamethrower type spells like in Skyrim.

It's more akin to Oblivion's magic system, but the sheer variety of spells in Morrowind more then makes up for the lack of flashy effects. The biggest difference you need to be aware of though is that in Morrowind there is a spell cast chance system that's based primarily on your skill in the school of magic that the spell belongs to. You also should look into(UESP is my go to source) how magicka works because how much you start with, and how you increase your magicka is much different then Skyrim.

Willpower and fatigue affect your chance to cast, too.

Oh, and no magicka regeneration except when you sleep.
