The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Bartering problem...
...In the original game, holding down the + or - button with the mouse would rapidly scroll the trade offer number up or down. Very useful for bartering the value by a few hundred or more in the desired direction with high-value items.

In the Steam version that I've just installed, it doesn't work that way. No matter how long one holds down the button, one has to release and re-click it to even add 1 more to the number.

Selling 90 gold worth of stuff and wanting to barter up to 100, for example...
Original version: hold down + for a few seconds.
Steam version: have to click on the + button ten separate times.

How do I change this?

Oh, and I did a google search and found out the answer to this. Which I may as well detail here, for anyone else having this problem:

- Find the game folder on your computer.
- Open up the Morrowind.ini file, and change "MaxFPS" from 240 to 60.
- When re-starting the game, Steam will say there is a conflict between local files and cloud files, and ask you which version to copy to the other. Choose the local version to copy to the cloud.

thx for providing the answer, we need more people like you in this world.

here is my small contribution:
1- open the laucher, so Steam will say the game is running (or open the game and Alt+Tab)
2- change the files like you described and save
3- close the launcher and Steam will sync your local files to the cloud

Another way to make haggling less of a chore:

Open MGEXEgui > In-Game > Macro editor.
Choose a key, set macro type to "Function", and function to "Haggle +1".
Another key to "Haggle -1".
Also a pair of keys to "Haggle +10" and "Haggle -10".
Same for "Haggle +100" and "Haggle -100".
"Haggle +1000" and "Haggle -1000".
And finally "Haggle +10000" and "Haggle -10000".

(I set only up to ±100, on numpad 4/5/6/7/8/9.)

I'd rather have 240 FPS tbh.

Just use openmw, you can have high fps and graphics, and the bartering you can just type in numbers. The UI has been updated for modernization

pretty sure morrowind code patch has a fix for that if you don't wanna use openmw
