That being said these are the main mods I use in my playthroughs:
Morrowind Rebirth
Tamriel Rebuilt
MGXE
Purist Friendly Magicka Regen
Less Generic NPC Dialogue
Holidays Across Morrowind
Retextured Signposts
Nothing too crazy. Boosts the textures, adds some content. Keeps the vanilla feel with a big boost.
Hope this helps.
I´ll have to disagree I´m afraid. I already experience those things back in the day and I dislike them even then. You can start the game and die of trying to land a single hit on a cliff racer while it kills you and take 20 minutes between locations OR you could survive a simpleton critter and only take half the time to reach places... Have I being spoiled by modern gameplay? Perhaps, but if it´s in my power those are things I want to "fix" for the game before even playing.
I think we may disagree, but I honestly think small features like those are the ones that make Morrowind a game that, generally, you don´t see that many young people praising. You only need to take a look at the forums, reviews or looking online, almost anyone under the age of 25 seems to have a problem with the game, mostly because this things have simply disappear, not just gone from the genre but entirely gone from the industry, while other MOrrowind features you can see in almost every RPG today. I think that´s more than enough proof that, as much as some people enjoy those hardcore RPG elements, as a whole, the public does not.
I´ll take a look at the list you provided, seems like there´s a lot more to visual enhancement that i though. Thanks a lot.
No problem mate. Its a great game. As long as you find a combination that works and you have fun.
And think about the ramifications of increasing speed. Depending on what mod you use. Speed is affected by strength, speed attributes as well as encumbrance. The more strength you have, the more you can hold, means the less overall encumbrance used up, means you move faster.
This is one of the factors in deciding between heavy, light or unarmoured. Encumbrance, because encumbrance affects movement speed.
So if you're just gonna up movement speed, you may as well remove the speed attribute altogether because that's all it affects, and there's no point in using light or unarmoured as their benefit of giving less weight and helping you move faster is redundant. Heavy armour has best defence and that's the only thing that will matter with upped move speed.
world texture that is hd vanillia made in a really nice way

dont fiddle with speed, always hit etc, it will ruin the game mechanism. just take that your character sucks the first hours.
edit:
had to add this one:
fallout 4 loot system in a old old game (say wahaaa):
quick loot

Thanks for the recommendations Kongha, this are exactly the types of mods I was looking for visual enhancements, allready favorite them all to downloaded at another time.
I wouldn't recommend getting a speed mod as once you hit speed 100 with most speed mods, you can practically race across Vvardenfell in record time (Plus, the boots of blinding speed will fix that provided you know how to counteract the... well... blinding. Vvardenfell is small!).
If you don't want to do multiple runs of the game, I recommend the "Join All Great Houses", as you can now play through all the house questlines without restraint.
If you want quest mods, House Telvanni has many great mods related to it, such as "Building Up Uvirith's Grave/Legacy", "Uvirith's Legacy", and "Rise of House Telvanni".
Just can't get enough out of Vvardenfell? Then you should definitely install Tamriel Rebuilt. If you intend on fully exploring mainland Morrowind, then I absolutely support installing a speed mod as it is absolutelt massive and can take ages to travel even when maxed.
I can entirely understand going with a hit-chance modifier on your first run, but I recommend disabling it in future ones as it becomes oddly enjoyable, and even useful in some instances (Like Morag Tong writs).
I'm also willing to answer any questions about mods if you have any.
There are a couple of guides I looked into to get my current 2019 installation but they are pretty in depth.
https://github.com/Tyler799/Morrowind-2019/blob/master/Morrowind_2019.md
(A WIP but current and deals with important steps skipped by the STEP guide. Note: I highly recommend NOT using the .esp for Tomb of the Snow Prince. Textures are nice but I dunno why it even suggests enabling the .esp, it's broken and unfinished.)
https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Morrowind
(Will involve some Googling to find links to missing/broken stuff if you intend to follow it to the letter. Not as up-to-date, but still very decent suggestions. The first guide also offers tips on getting some download links to work.)
They cover graphics pretty comprehensively though you don't need to do everything, especially if you intend to try Morrowind Rebirth. It includes many improvements on it's own, isn't compatible with mods that add grass, repair texture seams, and highly recommends not to use other new tree/rock meshes for Vvardenfell because differently sized trees/rocks will often float or clip. (Solstheim and Mournhold meshes are safe to install.)
They are also pretty FPS friendly, I mostly followed the 2nd guide's recommendations, updated some stuff based on the first, and it runs well.
(I recommend Better Bodies to Robert's. Guide 2 uses Robert's, which do look better, but Better Bodies have improved clothes/armor compatibility mods and match Westly's Heads better.)
I do not recommend MGSO but if you do want to use it follow this guide to fix all the bugs it adds.
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/43479/?
If you do use one of those guides and are careful to not add any tree or rock meshes, be sure to not overwrite everything with Morrowind Rebirth's textures and meshes. Don't get me wrong, Morrowind Rebirth choices look fine but both guides look a lot better. Be sure to move it up in your priorities list if you use Mod Organizer.
Also whatever you decide to do, get the Unofficial Code Patch, like literally every Elder Scrolls game ever.
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/26348
It does more than just bug fixes and includes a lot of optional stuff like being able to cast spells while holding a weapon instead of having to ready your jazz hands. Given you are looking to modernize it some, this is right up your alley.
Specifically for gameplay I personally recommend:
- All of the Less Generic NPCs stuff
http://lgnpc.org/downloads
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/23335/
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44819
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/23346/
(And these mods also make NPCs feel less generic though I haven't tested them much myself)
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/46063?
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/46066?
- Tamriel Rebuilt

https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/42145/?
- Morrowind Rebirth
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/37795
- Delayed DB Attack V2
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/14891/?
- Dramatic Vivec
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/43385
(Has some small issues with Rebirth, I had to manually disable 6 lamp posts even with the compatibility patch)
- True Skyrimized Torches
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/43192/?
- Purist Friendly Magicka Regen or Fair Magicka Regen v2B
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/45636
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/39350/?
(Purist is slower but regenerates the entire time you rest, fair is a bit faster and only regens the first hour of resting. Purist encourages resting after every battle like vanilla, Fair encourages waiting for it to come back during gameplay.)
- Multiple Teleport Marking
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44825?
(Blatantly OP but I haven't found a mod that only adds 1-2 more that works well yet so... If, like me, you are sick of walking back to "your house" just to drop off some crap but still want to use mark/recall elsewhere just use it sparingly.)
- Spell Cast Reduction v3.0
http://mw.modhistory.com/download-37-1406
- Plan to join house Telvanni?
- Uvirith's Legacy 3.5, Building Up Uvirith's Legacy, and/or Rise of House Telvanni
http://download.fliggerty.com/download-35-884 (look at the first guide I posted to read how to get a working download link.)
http://mw.modhistory.com/download-47-11851
http://mw.modhistory.com/download-21-10664
- Plan to join Redoran?
Less Generic NPCs has lots of great content for a dutiful Redoran and proper god-fearing Temple character. I recommend using all of LGNPCs regardless of what house you join though.
- Plan to join house Hlaalu?
Don't.
- At Home Alchemy Redux
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44006
- Happy Harvesting
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/45627
- Speechcraft Rebalance
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/43113
- Julan, Ashlander Companion 2.02
http://lovkullen.net/Emma/Kateri.htm
- Creatures Version XI
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/30563/
(Though also adds annoying screaming beetle spawns to almost every town. Maybe give it a pass if you don't want to manually delete spawn points yourself in the Construction Kit.)
- MCC Leveler
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44294
Gotta be honest, I just installed this mod for this playthrough I started 2 days ago. I have no idea it it's good or not. But after replaying Oblivion myself I wanted to get away from the urge to min-max for those +5 level up bonuses. Instead, it gives stats as you gain skill. Possibly could be OP but I haven't tested it myself.
For something similar, Apoapse's Attack also removes hit-chance factor and replaces it with higher weapons levels deal higher damage. Oblivionized Magicka Regen would also be a nice addon to Apoapse's Attack.
Hope that helps!
No need for anyone to recommend anything else I feel, seems like I got almost everything that I wanted and found on myself three more things I wanted. Thanks.
Do what you want, no skin off my back. I was just pointing out that all weapon and magic skills do is increase hit chance, so there isn't much point in keeping skills in the game when modding, just something to think about during your modding.
There's no difference between a level 5 long blade and a level 100 long blade skill with 100% hit chance mod, for example.
I simply won´t have the time to play the game "right", and I´m willing to break the gameplay so I can play it in rush mode. I understand your point, and I did understood it even before making this thread ´cause I really spend loads of time with this game back in the day, but i just don´t feel like doing it all over again.
I have Skyrim and SkyrimSE. I played Skyrim normal both on Xbox and on PC before modding, but then with SkyrimSE I jump on with mods since day one, because it´s a game i already know, i don´t need the vanilla experience all over again. And I find myself in the same situation with morrowind, this would be the 4th time I install this game on a PC, the 2nd that I pay for the game, and even the stuff I never did (like i said, I never finished main quest) I eventually saw online. This time I´m just in Morrowind for the fun of it, and because I feel playing and heavy modding older bethesda games will most liekly be more fan that anything they will release in the future (really not looking optimistic to the TES 6).
We´ll see if eventually I decide to return to a more vanilla experince, but for now my 1st character is gonna be OP as ♥♥♥♥ and I really want it that way. But maybe I was kind of an arsehole, so let me say that I thank your concern and advice, for what you knew I could have being a younger player buying the game for the first time and this such advice would be really helpful.
