How to change resolution to 900p/1080p?

I get only
640x480p
800x600p
832x624p
1024x768p
1152x864p

MGE XE has settings to change the resolution. It also does a bunch of other neat stuff.

I'm not sure all the options available (I'm running 1920x1080, and that IS an option), but Morrowind Code Patch gives more options for resolution via the in-game Video menu. I'm not sure how mods and Steam work together, though.
