Magic skills leveling
You just casted a super-difficult spell that had 5% chance to succeed, and killed a tough enemy with it! Amazing! There must be a ton of Exp. you got for that impressive feat, right? Wrong, its the same as casting damage 1 spell on yourself. Thats retarded.

So the question is: Is there some mod to rectify the problem? Ideally, something that takes difficulty of the spell into the concideration for awarding it with XP, or some alternative leveling mechanic. The point is: Leveling magic as I play, and not spending an hour spamming 1 magicka spell over and over.

You know what is easier than spamming 1 magicka spells? Making money. Making money in Morrowind is extremely easy. You know what you can do with that money right? You can pay for training. Cheap, fast and easy. If you don't like that you could always just use ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ spells when you fight stuff. If you are for some reason forcing yourself to only train by using spells and refuse to use trainers than thats on you I suppose. Either way no point ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about the mechanics.

Yes, there is a reason: Im too old for this ♥♥♥♥. I no longer wish to spend hours harassing alchemy trader for ingredients, and then dumping trucklodads of potions on them.
Kinda just want to play, at this point. I could just install "Leveling x10" or something, but its way to basic and cheaty.

Paying the skill trainers is a very legit & quick method, even rewards you for having worked so hard to earn all that shining gold.
Yes I agree the fact that the magic skills in this game have an at best questionable xp system. ( Should get a small note worthy boost to xp for getting a low chance cast to work thus making casting such spells feel worth while & rewarding ).

Morrowind is a game that takes time & wants you to earn your way through it's adventures, instant gratification is not a running theme with this product.

If your looking for a more instant gratification filled experience from your rpg games try skyrim,or any of the souls-borne franchise games.

This product is a more calm immersive slow burn sort of experience.

I think it doesn't exist because of limitations in the engine. You'd likely need third party software to change something like that.

But I agree, giving more exp for harder to cast spells would be great.

Well, obviously you need third party soft. I already use MGE. But isnt there script extender? I thought morrowind had one, just like skyrim & oblivion.
"hours harassing alchemy trader for ingredients" God I hope you are talking about ingame hours because alchemy is probably the easiest, fastest and broken skill to train in Morrowind. Everytime I use alchemy on a playthrough I don't set it to my major/minor skills because I don't want it to level me up 10 times when I make stuff. Even IF you didn't want to use alchemy to make money for RPing reasons or etc, money is still supremely easy to make. Sword of white woe in Balmora east guard tower, what is that like 11000? Go to creeper in Caldera and upstairs in a crate is some orcish armor, worth a bit above creepers 5000 sellers gold. Do the 2nd quest for the Khajiit in the mages guild in balmora and some lady upstairs will come downstairs and you can go take all her soul gems worth a ♥♥♥♥ ton (soul of winged twilight being worth 60,000).

If you don't wanna use trainers or "easy ways to make money" then just use weaker spells until you improve. Focus on leveling intelligence and willpower if playing a mage. Nobody is forcing you to use cheap 1 magicka spells to level up skills quickly.

I know how to play, thank you. The question was to suggest a mod, I really did not want to provoke a nerdrage.
LOL, you were ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about a games mechanics from 2002 and how it didn't reward you enough XP for casting a spell. If you knew how to play you would know how dumb of a question it was to begin with, annnnd if you really wanted a mod for such a small problem look on the nexus yourself big boy.

Nerdrage? That perk isn't even that good, get outta hereeeeee.

I came to ask a question, you came to ♥♥♥♥♥, and prove how superior you are in playing a non-competitive single player game, and how I have to play it YOUR way, becouse YOUR way is better, and the only correct method. Playing differently should be illegal, honestly. So clearly you won this round, I bow down to your superiority.

How sad no-one ever recommended a mod instead of flaming each other. I'm necro-ing, maybe they'll reinstall :)

Magicka-based skill progression:

There is also a version that works with a popular leveling system replacer, if anyone is interested let me know.

Well, that's exactly what I wanted, yet was unable to find myself on Nexus! Thank you, sir!
Not gonna reinstall thou, at this point. Lot of good games cropped up lately.

Morrowind's main gaimplay loop is to squat in a room with bed.. and repeatedly cast on-self spells for 1 mana? Or staying for a month straight inside the alchemy shop buying reagents?
