If you plan to go caster forget getting the casting traits like destruction and just fully go enchanting, and collect enchanting bits or make them yourself.

Enchanting is the most godlike skill in morrowind at higher level enchantings you use less charges on charged items, and you regen charges on enchanted bits faster.

Just a tip you can soul trap your summoned minions so buy a summon golden saint spell (you dont need to be able to cast it) then enchant it onto a piece of paper. Then find grand soul gems, soul trap the golden saint and you have an unlimited amount of max tier soul gems.

Alchemy should be your second skill to use some enchants just do not work (like cure blight disease) so you should supplement them with potions.

If you must level skills do illusion or alteration, and use those spells when you dont have any potions/scrolls/enchantments to spare.

the reason i say use alchemy + enchanting is unless you have a Constant Restore Magicka enchant on your gear (this is super expensive and hard to get) you do not regain magicka at all unless you rest. Also you only gain magicka based on how high your Intelligence is + you starting sign, so that means if your not the right birth sign you get at most 100 magicka vs 20 magicka per spell.

I thought I’d posted my answer to this question on the wrong Elder Scrolls game forum, but no you just play both Oblivion and Morrowind haha.

As has already been indicated , Enchanting and Alchemy are broken skills in Morrowind.

Enchanting allows for the player to make ‘Cast When Used’ items (think magic staves , but with everything ) that not only allow the player to cast whatever spell effect from whatever school they want, but also RECHARGE OVER TIME, unlike Magicka reserves . The only constraint in this is how much money one has available to spend on Enchanting services , and there are plenty of ways to make money in Morrowind...

... One of which is to use Alchemy , and grind out potions from vendors using their own ingredients and selling them for a profit . Fortify Intelligence potions also allow the player to exponentially increase the power of their own potions without limit. It’s not terribly difficult to make a Restore Health potion that restores 1,000’s of Health per second and lasts for several in game months, for e.g. .

Before considering making a Battle Mage , I’d consider whether or not you go down the Enchant and/or Alchemy route or not. If you do, then pretty much all the other spellcasting skills are obsolete, at least later into the game.

I must concur enchanting and alchemy are so abuseable that you needn't bother with other casting disciplines. Using fortify intelligence to make stronger and stronger potions can turn you into god from the moment you land in Vvardenfell. Go to the basement in fort buckmoth and get some ash yams and netch leather and get to making potions. Throw in some bloat and you will also inrease your willpower and all spells will cast without fail. Higher intelligence means that your enchanting ability also goes up. you can easily get your intelligence up to 20000. at that level you should not fail at making your own enchantments. Tel Brannora has a summon golden saint spell. While your'e there also get summon dremora lord. You can kill him, and before he dissapears, take his weapons. That should get you a nice daedric axe for your axe skill. Try mixing ash yams, bloat, wickwheat, and vampire dust. it will make you an unstoppable killing machine. this will increase your magica, make your spells always cast, and give you the strength to govern your axe. Swingin and missing? Mix sload soap and fire salts. Now you should hit. In fact forget about enchating. with alchemy, it is not needed.
