Telvanni Hortator help

I convinced Aryon, Dratha, Neloth, Therana and Baladas to name me Hortator and the journal entries to prove it. After i killed Gothren, nothing happens. Aryon still keeps telling me to convince the council members to name me Hortator. I tried killing Gothren twice but nothing different happened.
I was following this guide. https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Telvanni_Hortator
Anything else i can try besides killing all of them?

I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but have you tried getting his disposition high enough to get a direct refusal? I don't think it's necessary, but it might be worth trying. (I'm presuming you had the original conversation where he tells you he'll think about it?)

I tried doing that right after posting this but still nothing.
Since Aryon outright tells you to kill him i would assume that you dont even have to talk to him at all to finish the Quest.

This is 3 years old. Besides the OP likely had Tamriel rebuilt which requires you to talk to the telvanni councilors on the mainland as well.

either something is bugged or you forgot to click on something while talking to the people.
officially no bugs are recorded which are related to this quest but mods and stuff like that can mess it up. if you are quite sure that this is a bug than you can use the console to fix it. i would strongly suggest talking to all the people again though, using the console to much can cause some issues.

anyway, the console fix:
open the console, by default it is the ~ key if i am not mistaken. than execute the following 3 commands:
SetJournalIndex B7_TelvanniHort 70 and press enter
Journal B7_TelvanniHort 70 and press enter
player->additem hortatorrobe 1 and press enter

this should update the journal and give you the robe you get as a reward.

i only just saw the posts age after i posted my response, i am still leaving the comment just in case others are having the same issue.
