Oblivion > Skyrim > Morrowind
Did you even finish the main quest? You only mention the very first part of it, what about becoming Hortator and reuniting the Ashlanders and Great Houses, and finding out about the big plot points and the different recollections of the battle of Red Mountain? Morrowind, in my opinion, had the coolest lore around the main story.
It is the only TES game where you are thrown into a world without any relevant directions or goals? Actually all TES games are like that. You're a prisoner and a nobody, but suddenly you're revealed to be a prophesised hero and you save the world. Besides Morrowind, that's exactly what happens in Arena, Oblivion and Skyrim as well (I haven't played the other TES, so I don't know about them). Though that is super cliche, the games still turn out to be good, and they all have strong points in different aspects.
Anyway, you didn't enjoy it, so you do you.
Also 'marked the decline of the series'? So you think Oblivion and Skyrim are worse than Morrowind, Daggerfall and Arena? Cause that is what you are saying.
I personally love both Morrowind and Oblivion. Skyrim is a good game too. I wouldn't say Morrowind declined the series at all. Morrowind is what in my opinion put Elder Scrolls on the map even further.
lol calling morrowind the worst hahahhaha how about learn to play?
Doing that, its actually pretty awesome. I love the D&D feel of it, which Oblivion and Skyrim are lacking. Skyrim has the best combat system though and Oblivion has the most depth. Morrowind has the best setting and story by far though.
If Bethesda ever created an Elder Scrolls game with the same amount of story depth as Morrowind, gameplay depth of Oblivion and combat of Skyrim on the scale of Daggerfall with thousands of generated cities, towns and dungeons.
It would easily be the greatest RPG ever made.
But every new Elder Scrolls game just keeps getting smaller and smaller it seems... :(
True. For the time, it was pretty epic. My jaw was on the floor the first time I entered Seyda Neen. Even though I hate the floaty combat, wikipedia dialog system and snail-like movement, the world is still amazing.
