Dark Brotherhood
I came to Mournhold to deal with the assassins. I was told I could find them beneath the great bazaar. Did the play, killed the assassin, now I have no quest involving the dark brotherhood. Was that it? Wtf? I am very confused. Were the assassination attempts just to get me to Mournhold? I don't get it.

The assassin that attacks you during the play is from the Morag Tong, which is a different group. You're looking for the Dark Brotherhood leader; he's found in one of the sections of a big dungeon called Old Mournhold, which is beneath the city. You'll know the guy when you see him, as he's the only member of the Dark Brotherhood who's not wearing the helmet; all the other ones ARE wearing it.

Btw, yes, the quest IS basically just a means to get you to Mournhold. The idea is that after killing the Dark Brotherhood leader, and thereby nullifying the contract on you, you go to investigate the contract's origins. That, in turn, gets you involved in Tribunal's main quest.

You killed the leader of the dark brotherhood in the sewers in their base, and got him to say that the king hired him?

The DB attacks were just a way to start Tribunal expansion for you. The attacks stop as you get to Mournhold. Though the area is made as high level one, so you should first play through the original´s game content at Vanderfell.

Because this expansion set is there implemented very badly by Bethesda.

the assasination attempts stop once you talk to the guy is Ebonheart.
like mentioned above, you gotta go through quite a lot of tunnels/sewers and find their leader to proceed with the questline.

One last thing: After you kill the Dark Brotherhood leader, look around his little room for a note. You need to read it as part of the next stage of Tribunal's main quest, and if memory serves, it's sitting on a crate next to the DB leader's bedroll.

If you mean the contract, it should just be on his body.
