The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Breton Apprentice?
About every couple of years I get my Morrowind fix and this is one of those times. Typically, I use the atronoch birthsign with my casters for a variety of reasons. My understanding is that the Resist Magicka from the race and the Weakness to Magicka from the birthsign are somewhat immaterial since neither apply to elemental or poison damage which make up about 95% of the magic related damage incurred during the game.

To me, the atronach is actually easier to replenish the magicka either by absorbing spells or by simply using a mark, a divine intervention and hitting up the altar and then using a recall to put you right back in the action.

So I am just wondering if using the apprentice birthsign is a viable alternative to the atronoch?

I know it's a very old thread, but YES. Breton with an Apprentice sign is a perfectly fine setup and of course has the advantage of not only completely negating the drawback of the birth sign, but allows you easy Magicka replenishment via resting. No spells, teleports, absorption required, just a short rest and you're back in the game. It's not as significant boost in Magicka as Atronach, it's the difference of a 0.5 boost. The absorption from Atronach PLUS the Breton magic resistance is nice, but also a bit overkill and a little annoying to be dependent on most of your Magicka replenishment. I find Apprentice much easier to manage, but either is fine.
