Hunt Dark Bortherhood bug
Hello, i'm facing a curious bug. Actually one arrived in Mournhold, I talked to almost nobody, and went to the sewers and killed Vules, the DB leader. Picked the contract but let it into some crate I store stuff. That was long time ago.
Today I spoke to guards and Tienius about DB, but at that point of the game (almost done all others quests of Tribunal), nobody seems to give a damn, they tell me "You believe you killed the leader? [...]". Even if I take the "H" contract with me and talk to Tienius, there are no dialog for that. Even stranger, I noticed my Dark Brotherhood Attacks quest was not active anymore...

TL;DR :
- I killed Vules before talking to guards or Tienius
- 30hrs later I decide to talk about it
- no new entry/topic about it, even though I have the contract on me
- DB quest is not active in journal, and I never had the "Hunt" quest of DB

Result : everybody in the game seems to refer to DB as if it was still an active faction, while they are dead. I didn't "finish" that story yet and can't seem to trigger anything.
Is there a cheat to enable/add that Hunt quest? Or the contract topicID so i can talk about it to Tienius?

Thx!

Sounds like you did something out of sequence. That quest has specific events that act as triggers for other events, and talking to one of the guards in Mournhold is one of those trigger events. Since you went right into Old Mournhold and killed the DB leader first, and didn't talk to talk to a guard about it until much later, the quest broke.

However, Delitian's part of the main quest is optional, so even though he won't talk to you, there's no real need to worry. Just go to Almalexia's temple and talk to Fedris Hler. Delitian sends you there eventually, anyway, so you're actually saving time.

Thx for the answer.
I'm so pissd actually. I'm the kind of player who lurk every quest possible, so I don't mind doing every bits. But that quest is the last of Tribunal I didn't properly validate (I went to UESP and yep, The Hunt of DB is the only one I didn't finish in the addon...cuz it never made entry in my journal... while DB Attacks simply validate without notice).

So it's "broke", like... that's it?
Is there a way to have some TopicID list or Journal Entry list somewhere? I don't even know what I should talk about to Tienius when I have the Contract on me. I guess if I can get that topic into conversation, maybe I can fix it all, right.

I understand your frustration perfectly. I'm not entirely certain about this, but I think you might be able to continue with Delitian's quest by going into the console and typing this: Journal, "TBR_DBHunt", 110. If it works, Deletian should give you his next quest, "Speak to the People".

How did you know where to find the dark brotherhood without asking a single guard in mournhold about them?

Thank you! I'll try it later, and report in this thread if it worked =)

Well I didn't know actually, it's once I enter Vules and his mates' place I understood where I was. Actually I opened Tribunal journey by the Reception Area's basement which got me lost into sewers for about 2-3hrs lol. So I killed the DB guys along with the goblin king or whatever he's called (but wasn't expecting my trip to be such an expedition). When I eventually left that maze, I went back to my hideout, putted the contract in there in case I'd be asked about it later. And I just did quests fooling around until I had to deal with Tienius, Helseth and Almalexia.

This "goblin king" guy, did he have a name like "Warchief Durgoc" or "Warchief Kurog"? If it was either of those two names, you might have actually done more out of sequence than we originally thought.

I cleared a good portion of the sewers on my first passage (so before getting the mournhold streets). So hler eventually validated that quest as if he told me to chase that boss. It often happens in morrowind to kill someone which is referred to later on, so I don't think it's a big deal.

It might not be a big deal, so long as you have "Goblin Army" in your quest list. If not, I would advise that you don't go into the Teran building in Old Mournhold until after Hler gives you that quest. The two goblin warchiefs I mentioned are part of that quest, and so is the Teran building.

Yeah i remember I killed those two ugly, (meanwhile i didn't know it was quest related, but i had doubts). So i finished it by noticing to hler. It's in my journal, greyed as "done".

What about the two Aldmeri trainers? They're also part of that quest, and the Teran building is where they are.

I killed them too. There was only one quest where there were rock boulders blocking the path, don't remember which (a ghost or liche). But yeah, you can consider that since I first arrived in mournhold, I found that trapdoor in the reception area's basement, and through my journey into sewers I killed right away the goblin warchiefs, the DB guys and the trainers. But I didn't know it would impact the scripts this hard...

Well it shouldn't though . I've done many quests out of sequence and never got them broken unless I killed a guy you were supposed to talk to in a quest. Usually if you kill the targets of a quest before you start the quest you just turn it in immediately after you get the quest with no problems.

Well, quests aside, this game always been buggy as hell imo. When lurking at UESP, I notice a lot of "Bug" sections concerning npc, items or quest at rare occasions. What surprises me most is that I installed the Patch mod (don't remember its name), which is supposed to remove most glitches. I can't say I ran into a lot, except for bodies falling down map or being stuck in environnement.
It just breaks the sense of accomplishment here. I'm doing a 100% run of all TESIII, and that little issue sorta destroyed my mood lol.

Well you can do the rest of tribunal. It's impossible to 100% morrowind with one character. You can only join 1 of 3 great houses. Only 1 of 3 vampire clans (plus the rogue vampires which have their own side quests). There's 2 different paths of bloodmoon expansion and then conflicts like the fighters guild mission where you kill thieves guild guys or the mages guild mission to kill telvanni leaders, etc.

So you can always get that quest in a different play through if you're actually trying to 100% morrowind.

I actually use a mod that allows me to do all factions quests, I'm master of all houses and factions so far. Haven't played Bloodmoon yet, so I'll try to figure out what is possible or not with that mod.
