What Kind of Short Blade?
Daggers are fastest, at 2.5 attack speed. And that speed is awesome for interrupting attacks. And you can get some great daggers, like the black hands dagger, the fang, and keening. But wakizashis, slightly slower at 2.25 attack speed, can dish out more base damage and the deadric one has the highest potential. My character is an assassin/enchanter, so I'm unsure which is a better weapon choice for me. (Also... how's the interrupt capability compare between the two types of weapons?)

The interrupt capability is almost the same, it's more about timing than speed. More speed just makes it easier to pull off. 2.25 is not far from 2.5 at all. Daedric Wakizashi is a better choice than a Daedric Dagger. The Black Hands Dagger is probably better than a Wakizashi even, but only if you keep it stocked up on charges.

Since shortblades are so light you could consider carrying more than one. Black Hands Dagger for healing, Soul Drinker for fueling your soul gems, Dwemer Jinksword for paralysis (Flawed Dwemer Jinksword works great if you're a vampire) and a custom enchanted Daedric Wakizashi for some other utility.
Daedric Wakizashi mows thru enemies like grass. I also carry a Glass Jinkblade that procs "Paralysis" for 10 seconds. Just whittle them down while they sit there and watch.
I just use both. Black Hands Dagger when things get serious, Daedric Wakizashi the rest of the time.
daedric wakizashis will destroy your enemies with pittiless ease, especially with high blade skill and agility
