The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Terrible Framerate in Towns
I have tried many fixes but nothing works. I have MGE installed, but I turned off distant land, shaders and AA but none of that worked. I have Morrowind Code patch but that didn't help either. AI distance is set to nearest as well. Help pls.

Is it MGE XE? It has a "Per-pixel lighting shader" setting in the DIstant Land tab, separate from the other shaders, and that lowers my framerate quite a bit.

Intel Core i5-3350p 3.10GHz
8 Gigs of ram
Nvidia GTX 960 4GB
Windows 7 64bit

It is MGEXE, and I have the per pixel lighting turned off.

Try adding Morrowind to your antivirus exclusions. That helped me alot. well, with stuttering, that is. Still worth a try though.

After playing the game a bit more, it seems like the only place where the game has a real problem is in Pelagiad, strangely enough. Everywhere else seems fine, Balmora is a little laggy but it's nothing game ruining. But for whatever reason, Pelagiad, really hits the frames lol.

i have installed MGSO, that includes all mentioned above patches and mods. i run it pretty good, stable 60fps, with some drops to mid 40s in towns you mentioned. bare in mind that this is due limitations of the morrowind engine and this overhaul, its pretty limited (engine i mean, so heavy modding can cause suffering of engine which results in dropping framerates in some places). some people with much better pcs have lots of stutter everywhere near water. im lucky i guess cause i do not loose any frames near water.
there is a bit longer way around it, installing mod that replaces entire engine, and with that one, it runs smooth everywhere. but it conflicts with some parts of mgso, so i thought it wasnt worth it.

Well thank you for the suggestion though, that's something i will mull over.

Hi guys, i want to say i was able to discover the problem of the FPS and the Towns of Morrowind.
You must to Go to the "Main menu" from the game and.. Go to the "Video" options.
Change the view distance to the half (or less if you want)
This is the best way to get 30 fps extra on the Towns!

You do realize necrophilia is a sin in Morrowind right? One punishable by death.

I used that method and all goes great!! The game runs at 52-58fps on towns.
Before the game ran at 39-43 fps.
