Who played Cocoon? looking for opinion on game awards

Hi, after the disappointing announcement that Pizza Tower lost the game awards to a game name Cocoon, I've seen many people say thing like "No one heard of Cocoon" and "Its a small game no one heard of". I'm interested in hearing what people who played both Cocoon and Pizza Tower think of this. I've personally have not play Cocoon so I don't have a strong opinion on the situation.

Play more indie games, all the nominees this year were great.

the publics vote only counted towards 10% of the votes and the judge's were 90%
if we only take into account the publics vote, pizza tower wins by a long shot

can you see why people are upset?

Yes, if it was a popularity contest then the most popular game would win. Your point?
No one is denying Pizza Tower is the more popular game, this thread in itself can tell you that.

the jury was made up of 9 people that have a history of not knowing ♥♥♥♥ about videogames and every year they just pick a random game and read out their steam page to pretend they know what theyre doing

If that's true, why do you care? As you describe it it's as if you're suggesting they chose the game through a dart throw on a rotating board. Complaining the Game Awards are bad is a different conversation than complaining your choice didn't win.

Could you link me to these? Searching the Steam discussion boards only brings up similar arguments from people who, as far as I can see, haven't played the game.

I couldn't find it. There are no discussions that mention game awards in the title. Can you just give a link?

Been checking the discussions too, apparently there's only one discussion on there relating to the thing
And there's only two replies on there, everything else is just stuff about missing audio and bugs

i just checked again and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ i think they got deleted
like they were right there just a few minutes ago, but now if i search the word "awards" or "bribe", nothing shows up, so i think they legitimately got deleted by the dev

It's a fantastic game for sure. Pizza tower is too! So many incredible indies this year
