it's not like they're above everyone with some prestigious education on video games though, they just play them the same as everyone else. I agree that votes would be rigged "for the meme" if it were mostly up to the public though. but at the end of the day it's just video games. Every format has award shows that go against the popular vote too. Also consider Baldur's Gate 3 was both a critic and fan favourite so it swept the award show.
I would've liked to see Pizza Tower win, but it is what it is. I still hope they'll snag the "Outstanding Visual Style" award for the Steam awards.
