Would this game jumpstart a new trend of Wario Land inspired games?
Since we're getting this and AntonBlast soon?

Youtube's had a few people who speculate about this.

I personally think Pizza Tower's success will jumpstart the inspiration of both fangames, and blatant rip-offs, as well as proper competitors (like AntonBlast).

Ultimately, I think we would hear more about Pizzas-Tower clones than wario-likes.

not really because we already have some of them

Funny enough, I feel this will inspire more Pizza Tower esc games rather than Wario Land esc games. Since PT is based more on speed.

i hope nintendo had a warioland in the making to jump on this trend alone. (And i mean a return to the old wario lands, with multiple endings n shiz. not like shake it dimension)

The "Metroid effect" could now be in effect for Wario Land, and who knows how long it's been planned.

Wario Land could probably come back, especially with;
1. How Popular this game is
2. The Nostalgia of the Land series, especially 3 and 4

Pizza tower was supposed to be a wario land inspired game. But then they went and accidently made one of the best 2D sonic games.

also the fact that warioland 3 got ported to the NSO gameboy service

Hopefully Wario Land 1, 2 and 4 will soon get there.

Same with Warioware Twisted since the Switch has gyro support.

Absolutely this. Not only is Pep's top speed and acceleration insanely fast, the level of control and handling is unbelievably tight too. Sonic feels like controlling a glacier in comparison. Pizza Tower is just so good, bros.

Sonic is about momentum more than just speed.

Agreed. Both games are similar but each one clearly has its own different design philosophy, and Sonic isn't simply about "gotta go fast". Speed is the reward for playing well in Sonic games by memorising stage layouts and knowing when to roll and jump with the games' physics.

There's also no combos to worry about maintaining until the end which is what you're encouraged to do in Pizza Tower with the flexible moveset you've given, while Sonic is all about maintaining your momentum and flow with the simple moveset he has.
Both games are tricky to master in their own ways.

In a way Pizza Tower is closer to Rayman Origins/Legends in term of speed than Sonic.

If the same level design as PT was in Sonic it wouldn't be playable.

Yeah and this game unironically has better momentum mechanics than most sonic games could ever dream of.
