If the dev isn't being forced to implement anything, then I think it's really your reaction that's overblown. You could just say "I don't want this" instead of obfuscating that point with some virtue signal about preserving the creator's vision. You claim you're not being snarky, but you interestingly refused to answer my straightforward question. That would've been a nice way of proving me wrong.
Your spider example is poor, considering that the couple of jumpscares/screamers being discussed are absolutely not part of this game's core identity. People probably want to play Pizza Tower because they like Wario Land, the art style, or some other reason. Even if you believe my feelings are silly, which maybe they are, you insinuation that somebody is stupid for wanting to play this game for reasons beyond scares is equally silly.
Additionally, bringing up Souls is a poor example, considering that's a series I actually have plenty of experience with. Speaking personally, I believe the challenge of those titles is an intrinsic aspect of their identity. However, I have no issue with people saying they'd want a more traditional easy mode. I might argue that those options already exist in the game through mechanics such as magic and summoning, but maybe some people just want to play a traditional playstyle. If Fromsoft added a straightforward easy mode which toned down enemy damage or something, I would really not care as long as I'm free to continue playing the game how I want to. Hell, even if I did believe it was a poor change, I would still identify it as a change Fromsoft made instead of getting upset at the people who asked for it.
I guess the difference between us is that I don't feel a need to belittle you for your preferences, whereas you seem to have immediately jumped to calling people children that are crying for a toggle. Maybe try to speak like less of an ass if you don't want people to dismiss you as a troll.
Maybe make it so that it plays a goofy noise.
Try to get good and avoid being touched by the monsters (There's even an achievement for not getting jumpscared a single time)
or
Skip the level and collect the toppins from every other stage (you need 90 of 95 to fight the final boss)
If you're extra savvy, you can probably figure out how to replace the jumpscare code entirely to just skip it.
The stage as a whole doesn't even approach the level of horror of an average Courage the Cowardly Dog episode.
