Do I Need To Play The First Homefront to Understand This Game's Story?
Yeah, do i need to play the first game to understand the story? The information that i got is pretty vague, all i know is that this game starts 4 years after the events of the first game. But do these games share the same characters and story?

No. Homefront: TR has almost no connection to Homefront 2011 and takes place in a completely different alternate history timeline. The protagonist from Homefront's tie-in novel appears, but everything else is different.

It is worth watching this mockumentary to better understand the backstory.

Not really, but it helps. The story is sumarized in videos for both games anyway.

The only problem is that some people unfortunately end up confused by Homefront: TR's story because they assume that events from the first game are true, such as Korea being communist.
