This vs Sea Dogs: Legendary Edition
So can someone help me to understand what the difference between this and Sea Dogs Legendary Edition is going to be?
From what i understand this game is a remaster of Sea Dogs: To Each His Own, which i already have and played quite alot of. I also played many of the other Sea Dogs/Age of pirates back in the day and loved them back then. What I didn't like about TEHO was the timelimited and or lvl capped main quests put ontop of an already quite hard and unforgiving combat system as existed back in the old games. From what I can undestand is that those mechanics are still in this edition. I played the free sandbox of this game which is fine for what it is. But I got stuck in an impossible situation reloading a hundred times trying different solutions but eventually realised I couldnt complete the quests. In sandbox, thats fine. But when it happend on a main quest, and you lose maybe hours of progress. Well im just to old for that ♥♥♥♥ now.
So why would it be worth buying this edition for me when I already have TEHO and all its DLCs if i ever get the itch to bang my head against the wall. When I have the free sandbox to just roam and do what ever I want.
What is going to be different in the Legendary Edition? Is that even still in development or is every resource spent on this edition of the series?

Caribbean Legend IS the Legendary Edition.

Sea Dogs TEHO used to be owned by a different company. Back when this team (Blackmark) was working on the Legendary Edition, the plan was to simply update TEHO with a big patch. Over time, the plans have changed and the owner of Blackmark purchased the rights to the game from the previous owner. However, due to some legal issues, he could not continue with the old plan of updating the game through the patch, so they had to re-release it under the new name - Caribbean Legend.

Do not bother looking at the news feed of Sea Dogs TEHO, as the previous owner went under and nobody is working on it anymore. Caribbean Legend is the future of the franchise.

Thanks! I already knew this team is the new owner though. But Sea Dogs: Legendary Edition is still on steam saying "coming soon". They probably should take it down to clear up confusion.

On a nother note. Despite my sceptisiscm, I did end up bying this edition cause i had to satiate my curiosity. I have to say that the improvements they have made compared to TEHO is good. Some impressive even considering this 20+ year old piece of ♥♥♥♥ engine that should have retired atleast a decade ago. There still is a long way to go for it to become a "modern" game as I have read the developers want it to become. And I still don't think it's possible on this engine. The movement system, even though imroved, still feels abit awkward, the melee combat imo should be overhauled, the story missions (and i don't mean that they are bad) is just desigend in a very unvelcoming way for new players. As you can still end up having X, Y and Z timesensetive quests, fighting very hard battles just because you didn't know you probably shouldn't have come to W town while on Y quest. This is not what new generation of gamers in the modern era expects
Still what i've seen. It brings hope for the future. I have read that these guys are planning on, or maybe already working on the next game in the series on unreal engine. And i hope that they almost remake it from scratch to truly bring it to the modern era. And really think these guys can do it. In the mean time, this is the best pirate/age of sails game we got and it is good enough for me. They have my support atleast!

Blackmark has no control over that page and Akella is gone and apparently there's no one left to contact either.

Wow, I'm an idiot. They have "Exploration mode" Which removes timelimits, lvl cap and all that can be really overhelming at times from the main quests. That is exactly what i wanted! I feel so dumb now. I thought exploration mode was just sandbox. I have been doing pretty well in the classic mode though :p

This game while looking dated, is the best Pirate game on Steam. When its done and 2.0 is complete, I hope people get the word out. It deserves financial success.

I should mention for what AC4 does, it is an excellent pirate game and is required playing for any pirate fan. However this game is more of a total package of a pirate game while AC4 is a great story game with a very good pirate wrapper.
