Please bring back Hook's Mod.
Someone once joking called this game "an epic reloading simulator" and I'm starting to see why. I just finished the Pirate Saga quest in the nick of time, without doing any side quests and having all 3 amulets the guy requested, and even then I had to reload dozens of times when I missed timed objectives. No matter which direction I was headed on the world map, the wind was almost 80% of the time directly in my face. It seemed it was part of the programming, the game knew where your next objective was so made the wind come from that direction. I know some timelines were extended with the CL update but please either slow down time on the world map or allow the ability, maybe even just once a week, to change or reverse the wind direction. I can't tell you how many times I had to reload the game because I missed a timed mission simply because I was headed into the wind the entire way to my destination.

Playing on exploration mode I haven't had many time problems so far, but I have also noticed that the wind more often than not is extremely unfavourable.

hate the wind specially with a Battleship could be manegable if they didnt remove the sail to me command for your ships since all i need to do is have my Heavy Pol something sail to me and switch ship, they remove a lot of great feature like NOT SINKING A SHIP AFTER YOU CAPTURE IT AND LEAVE FLOATING TO LOOT LATER! really annoyed by this one

That last one was never a thing by default. It was always true that if you didn't have a captain to place on the ship, you would just sink it. Are you sure that wasn't part of a mod?

Not sure what hook's mod did exactly, but there's global map boundaries mod on workshop, pretty much all you need.

It was apparently a feature in another Sea Dogs game, but one I find very intuitive.

No, original COAS did not have it. Only if you used GOF mod.

I think there were a couple tweaks but for me Hook's Mod did two things. First, it slowed down time on the global map, making achieving time objectives much more possible. Second, it offered you the ability to change the wind direction (basically, randomly re-roll it) when you first entered the battle map, so if the wind was coming from a bad direction for you, you could change it. That wind change would carry over to the global map. Either one of these changes made the game much more enjoyable, and together they were very nice.

I get the game is meant to be challenging. But there is a big difference between being challenged and being frustrated.

it's a mod made for the previous game that changes some mechanics in the game, like setting a minimum/max value for the wind so it never went to 0, or changing the speed of time while in the world map. Some really nice QoL improvements

Hook's mod actually did a fair bit more than that. The big features were the decrease in passage of time on the world map and adjusting some quest timers, along with fixing a few broken coding areas allowing you to complete Regatta and not have permanent rep loss after FTJR. More minor changes were increasing the minimum wind values and allowing you to reroll the direction of the wind in the battle map. It really helped elevate TEHO to a more playable state, and over time some more mods came along that helped with quicksaves and visible map borders, along with some late updates to the game implementing fixes Hook originally made. CL is in a much better state than the TEHO Hook originally made his mod for, but there's still definitely some helpful QOL improvements I'd love to have again.
