I guess it's all relative but they are a good source of class 2 ships. I assume they are just too strong for you at this point in your game and you need to vent but in my game they are easy kills. I don't like how they are down to minimum crew but can still manage a volley to kill 25 of my crew when I board because those are my worst casualties usually and based on that I concede they are pretty OP and probably hurt someone who isn't prepared for them.
All I would suggest is that you save the instant you see them and run for an island. If you can get to land anywhere and still be out of range of them you can leave the sea view and quick travel to somewhere else on the island (other side would be best or a town) and hopefully jump away from them.
Yeah. Shame. So long as you are aware of your options that's the best you can do till they get easier. It will happen eventually and they will just become extra cash. Hang in there.
