First missions broken?
So i started, visited my brother in the dungeon and now have to get a ship. After i left the dungeon the tavern and the shipwright are locked. When i try to use quick travel it says its not possible cause something is going to happen here. But there isn't anything. I tried to walk through the whole city and nothing.. I played the previous game so i know the beginning and how to make the money. But i cant speak to the guy in the Shipwright because its closed,

Dude I just had this same issue. I'm about to start over and hit "skip tutorial" and see if that's the issue. Maybe accepting the tutorial either bugged it out or made some very obscure objective we have to do first before so. It feels like a bug though cause I walked the entire island and everything is closed except the governors palace and the prison and store. I have no idea what else to do right now.

EDIT: Even skipping the tutorial it's all closed. I have no idea wtf do to. I just downloaded the original game and the shipyard doesn't close after speaking to the brother. It's 100% a bug

IT depends if you choose the tutorial or skipped it. After you get the money from the quests if you did the tutorial or the Abbot at the curch if you skipped, you must get the ship and crew .
We can't get the ship or hire a crew or talk to the Abbot. That's the point. The tavern and church are both closed along with the shipyard. The only things open are governors place/prison/store. I've spoken to the brother...nothing is happening.
Just as Droops said there is no option to get to other places than which he mentioned. I did all the missions, have 30k and cant enter the shipwright :'D
I think i keep playing sandbox till they fix it.
It still wonder if there is something in the full game sandbox mode that is missing in the free game. After 1 hour playing this game it seems to be 100% same as the free sandbox version.
So we pay for the story or what are the differences?
i got to my ship by continuing miscellaneous quests. the part that messed me up is that one quest giver randomly walks around town after you do cannibal AND find-me-an-employee quests. get that quest, and it is a chain that eventually opens up the shipyard to you for quest. then, go to bar to continue further. that is how far i have gotten so far.
Seems the game forces you to do the right quests in the right order (and all of them). The tavern unlocks after you get the "♥♥♥♥♥ Master" quest (and gives you "Rum Matters" as well) but you HAVE to have WM quest. So I'd guess the shipyard unlocks after finishing all required quests. Try to talk to all the people at the locations that are open (if you chose the tutorial, no clue what to do when you skiped it though)
Thanks for your help guys. I want to support the developers so i keep the game. But to be honest thats not what i expected.. I think i will skip the story till they fix things like this.
I don't know. I'm dissapointed cause i really waited to play this game :(

I was able to complete the tutorial just fine. It's not broken, you're missing something.
You can't play it like you are used to. They changed it to offer one quest at a time. If you work through the quests you end up exactly where you would be in previous versions, you just can't pick which you do and when you do it anymore. They did this intentionally. The tavern will be unlocked when they unlock it at a certain point, the time of day and fast travel will unlock at a certain point as well. There is nothing to worry about. You are just used to the way the tutorial used to work.

The tutorial has been changed since the original Sea Dogs.
It has a linear progression. I've told the developers anyway. We'll try to do something
Came here to see if anyone else got blocked and was glad to see it's been answered, I'll continue with the other quest in my log and see what happens. :)
When you finished to talk to your brother, make the next quest for the merchant and the gem you find at the dead body outside the city. Next do the cannibal quest and next start the wine quest and the brothel quest. Next start the rum quest and finish it, After this you can finish the brothel quest and than continue with the wine quest. After this you can enter the shipwright.

Yeah, we probably need to re-do the whole thing again.

not really. What'd be needed is something like a "diclaimer" that explains the following step. So when you choose the Tutorial/skip Tutorial have the dialogue-box say something like "Choosing the Tutorial will set in motion a set of Quests. When one set is finished the next one will start/unlock. Since the quests are linked to certain buildings, parts of the city will be locked until their quests are aviable. While all quests should be done you are however not required to actually do all of them to obtain your ship/crew.
Skipping the Tutorial gives you the money for the ship and crew via Abbot Benoit. However you must still buy the ship, supplies and hire the crew yourself. Good luck on your adventure." I knwo it'd be immersion-breaking but this way it would be better communicated to the "veterans" that they aren't stuck (cause lets be fair: Locked St.-Pierre in the tutorial was a bug in the original) and that the tutorial got changed
i try to finish the tutorial mission that need to find a missing helper .. any help?
