He meant hunting stolen ships after getting the 100k bounty. You can sneak into town and deliver the ship without docking in port.
Also a great way to earn doubloons early game.
The Chimera makes all class 4s and regular class 3s look like ♥♥♥♥ in comparison. It's meant to be the ship before FTJR.
There's no need for the Holy Mercy pre-FTJR.
You're mostly trying to earn lots of money which is why a cheaper option like the Chimera is great. Also the fact that she can hold 300 men and allow you to smuggle at the same time is just awesome.
The Holy Mercy only starts being really useful from Hot Sun of Maracaibo onwards.
Best ship for freeplay after the Dutch Gambit and before Flying the Jolly Roger, is "embarassing"?
The Chimera is an absolute monster. It easily defeated the Flying Dutchman by itself.
On low difficulties, any ship is good enough as long as you have the skills. The enemy is simply too weak to do anything.
I'm speaking from the "impossible difficulty" point of view.
The best permanent cannoneer in the game, and the best 4th or 3rd rate in the game. Torero is just about the same as chimera, except its a much larger target to enemy cannon fire, and has slightly more crew. Frankly outside of boarding or trading, Chimera is superior to Torero.
Honestly whoever thinks the Chimera is ♥♥♥♥, doesn't know much about the game.
However, the Torero is better than the Chimera in raw stats but requires more money for upkeep, and they are quite similar so I would choose the Chimera over the Torero.
Also players on Very Hard and Impossible difficulty can only use ships of class 4 and below for smuggling, which is why the Chimera is pretty good for the middle game, especially when freeplaying between the Dutch Gambit and Flying the Jolly Roger.
