My review of the game
Originally I made a negative review because of the movement mechanics, which were so bad I couldn't tolerate even 5 minutes into the game.

But now that I've actually been able to play the game, with competent movement mechanics, I've been thinking about changing the review to positive. I like *some* of what I see, but there's still a lot of jank.

I did the first few quests in the starting town, going and rescuing the daughter from the natives, then going to smuggle the stuff on the dingy, then I went and bought the ship as intended by the quest line.

After buying the ship, I found some nearby chests that I pressed spacebar on to open. Didn't take anything, but on the second one I was labeled a thief, and the shop owned pulled a sword. I pressed E to put my sword away figuring maybe combat would stop and I'd be fined. nope, he kept attacking. So I left and went outside the shop.

Now I have guards running up to me, and swarming me - but not attacking or engaging me. Weird and annoying. I had my character rest for 24 hours. Nope, guards still swarming me, and my portrait is blinking red. and still not attacking me or any obvious way for me to surrender.

So I figure I'll go back to the shop owner, and then just let him kill me so I'll reload a checkpoint/autosave. NOPE. He kills me and then I'm reloaded all the way back to the middle of the mission for the guy rescuing his daughter from the natives.

No autosave is wild. I see the option for autosave in the menus, and they're enabled, but autosave obviously isn't triggering. It might as well not be there as far as I can tell.

So maybe my review will change to positive once I get to proper ship combat and see how that is. But at this point, the lack of a functioning autosave is a pretty huge dent in that prospect.

Hell, the game zones like 5 times going between the starter town and the pirate town on the other side of the island. Can you not autosave during one of these many [excessive] transitions? Or autosave between the dingy and land? Or autosave between the open world and the shops/tavern level changes?

I think by default autosave is only enabled prior to boarding but there's a checkmark in options to make it happen when you leave port.
