Cannons for my Caleuche
I have a feeling that getting smaller cannons but with longer range is the play... Anybody can confirm or deny?

Don't. Stick with the 36lbs cannons. They do a lot of damage.

What you need to do is rely on the Flying Heart's speed to get up close to your enemies, then make it rain hell for them.

Sadly, my luck usually puts my enemies against the wind and they have the long cannons to shred my sails. Painful.

ive noticed the flying heart is proably the best early man of war youll get if you want change your front guns for longer ranger or one side of your ship the disadvantage is if you arnt on the right side for close quarters your ♥♥♥♥♥♥

i replace mine with 24 lbs, 36 lbs is too much/slow/heavy/low range for a pirate ship unless your hitting a fort.

1. There is an exploit to prevent cannons from exploding due to wear & tear, do this whenever you like, just not in combat - remove all cannons and put them back in place.

2. Thor's Hammer ward.

The lineship in Slave Trader pt. 5 comes with 36-pounders. The Man-of-war in the golden fleet can come with 36-pounders. You can also get 36-pounders through plundering cities, so far I've seen 100% spawn rate.

No point using 36lbs cannons for forts. You should use full couleuvrines to maximise range.
Also, 24lbs are too weak. When you're given an opportunity to fit 36lbs on a fast ship, just do it. Sail straight to the enemy and blast the hell out of them.
If you find the reload speed of 36lbs cannons too slow, then at least use 32-pounders. I wouldn't go below that.

So in theory, while powerful, 36lbs is simply too slow and too rare for effective combat use?

No. The advantages outweigh the disadvantages if that's what you want to hear.

Yeah i use full Couleuvrines my self for Fort and ones i have the French Battleship i don't bother changing its cannons top lower ones since it has enough Cargo space for it, The Dutch battleship has more though at least 4 to 6k free space(haven't played in a while so cant remember) even with full Couleuvrines but more expensive to upkeep in normal but using the Flying Heart with full 36 lbs you barely have free space on the ship i barely use the Flying Heart its just a money pit unlike the dutch and french battleships that can be a good trade and outstanding pirate ship with good speed range and cargo space, the Flying Heart is a pure battleship with cannon up to 36 lbs, if it can use full Couleuvrine that's another story mods can fix it but we cant mod truly yet.

i don't really recommend the use of the Flying Heart unless you know you're gonna fight another battleship or has a lot of pesos Fast Frigate and the 3 Unique 3rd Rate ship is the best for this game.

I don't think OP has reached the stage where they can obtain the Fortune/Eclatant lol.

Anyways, I agree. The Flying Heart has always been sitting in port for me in Caribbean Legend. There is absolutely no use for the Flying Heart because the Fortune is just better. I singlehandedly took down forts, Cromwell's squadron and Spanish treasure fleets with the Fortune on the highest difficulty, which goes to show how good the Fortune really is. Also the French Warship + Dutch/Spanish MoW is a must have, equip them with full couleuvrines and just grind forts.
