“Long Shadows of Old Sins” and “The Last Knight”
“Long Shadows of Old Sins” - Charlie Knippel's companion quest featuring a new unique ship.
“The Last Knight” - Claude Duran's companion quest.
How did these start?
Thanks ,StormRangerX.I want to know what triggers these missions, after all, I don't want to start a new game.

Considering Hercule's quest started in the middle of Turtle Soup, I imagine these quests will have similar triggers during other story missions.

Keep progressing through the story and just keep an eye out for any quest markers.

Knippel's quest start in Basse Terre, some time (1-2 months) Dutch Gambit.
Durand in a tavern, I heard?

Tip: Equip Knippel with decent equipment before starting his quest.

There gotta be other requirement. I recruited Clod 8 months ago and he has been my vanguard all the time, I went to tavern a lot , save & load a lot , no quest.
Hopefully his loyalty is not required.

Clod has to talk to you about resigning once, just once. The next time he talks to you will trigger the start of the quest.

After you land in Guadeloupe Charlie will want to drink with you in a tavern, a guy will approach you two and will attack Knipple. You are now in control of Knipple and will have to fight with little to no combat skills so make sure to equip Knipple with decent gear beforehand. After this you have to find a house with a burnt letter. Next part is a bit vague and the logbook doesn't say much. But this is what you have to do; after a week has passed land in port au prince and a guy will approach you in desperation as he's about to fight a duel in 2 hours that he's sure he's going to lose. Charles finds something fishy about this but agrees to help him nonetheless. You can either go and fight the duel that will turn out to be an ambush, or you could ask the "neighbours" about the reasons for the duel. If you enter the house next to the one you were just in you will find that these neighbours are actually mercenaries who would have fought you if you went to the duel. However you chose to deal with things, you find out that Charlie had some debt he repaid by borrowing from a banker in Antigua. Sail to Saint John. This is the part that is kind of confusing; Don't arrive at daytime, instead land in the harbour at night. Now go to a tavern and drink with a drunkard and ask what's new in the archipelago. Now you know where the banker lives when he's not at work. Go pay him a visit and ask him if he's after Charlie. He's not, immediately after you exit his house an English patrol will try and murder you. You can kill them without getting a hit to your reputation. Make sure to loot the commandant, he has decent loot. After you get back to the safety of your ship go to your cabin and talk to Charlie. After this interactive cutscene a ship called the Chimera attacks you. After you board it and beat the captain and his goon, you'll be presented with a couple of options, none of them are ideal. You can give Charlie up, and lose the unique ship that you just fought so hard for. You could keep Charlie and the unique ship although you will take the maximum hit to your reputation with England with a 100k bounty on your head. There is a 3rd option but I haven't figured out how or what I need to trigger it properly, however, according to the Russian guide you not only not get the unique ship, you also have to pay 1m pesos later on if you want to keep Charlie. I went with a 100k bouny on my head. Just head straight to Guadeloupe after this and pay Fadey to take that bounty off of you. You won't be able to land in a British colony for at least half a month after you pay him. Hope this helps.

Information on the walkthrough is slowly being compiled. A lot of edits have been made, I think it's not all. Something was found in your walkthrough description as well. :charles_happy:

UPDATE, this is so much worse than I initially thought! you'll need to pay fadey 700 doubloons more than 5 times in order for him to fully make the British amicable again. It's a long arduous process of waiting a few weeks and going back to him every now and then for him to increase your relations a tiny bit. Hopefully you have the League Suit by this point as you'll need it if you need to sneak into any British colonies. DO NOT talk to British governors and don't talk to any British guards. You do have the go-to option however so it's easy to avoid the guards. Ngombo mask and ♥♥♥♥♥'s fan amulets help a lot too. You will be hunted by a 5 ship English armada on the open sea non-stop, however you can use the local map if you need to quickly put some distance between you 2. Having only 1 small ship also helps as it's easier to sneak into British ports. I still think it's worth it though since this is to my knowledge the only way to get the unique ship Chimera.

Yes, even with max rep, you'll get the bounty. The Chimera is in my opinion one of the best mid game ships. It's also the one I've stuck with the longest.

The Chimera is class 4, so that she could be used for smuggling on Very Hard & Impossible.
