Edit: by the way, the fact that Mary was written 10 years ago is irrelevant. Roughly 10 years ago we had female romances like: Jaheira, Viconia, Morrigan, Isabela, Leliana, Liara or Tali. It's not atomic physics to write at least decent female romance. Mary is not even a human being considering writing. We really need an update.
Plus she is no noble pampered lady who was raised up to be ashamed of her sexuality.
Why no one is complaining about Charles's own sexual needs being unrealistic or/and not making him a "real" human being?
Double standards.
Though I'm all for giving Mary more content I see no reason to change her personality and interests. She is her own character. She does not need to be someone else. Or Helen V2.
Viconia and Isabela were boasting about their sexual prowess quite often with Isabela even saying how she can turn a straight woman into a lesbian. Viconia even talking about her previous lovers and how amazing her drow sexual skills are.
Morrigan jumps into the player's bed rather fast and afterwards starts getting grumpy when she starts falling in love. She was like the Viconia of Dragon Age with a bit less sex boasting since she grew under her mother's boot and being a hermit.
Liara and Tali were introduced as the naive sweet types. But more than anything they had 3 whole games to develop and Mass Effect had much more focus on romance than Caribbean Legend.
Neither Mary nor Helen get 3 games worth of content. And they are introduced rather late on top of that.
Women with huge libido actually exist.
That said as I mentioned I'm all for getting some new quests or storylines where we can get more about her past or introduce opportunities to perhaps get a deeper look into her character.
No need to rewrite her character in order to add more layers to her character IMO. She can keep what she has but reveal that she got more going for her than that.
The thing is that unlike Helen, Mary did seemingly fall for Charles much harder which combined with her high libido makes her far more eager to bang than Helen. Helen's own libido is much lower and she is far more focused on her past legacies than with romance.
The thing that makes Helen appear more complex is that she got a whole big quest where romance never has to take place whereas Mary doesn't have any big non romance quests. We do not learn about Mary's past (aside from her dead boyfriend kinda...), family or plans for the future (that are not romance focused).
That is the only reason IMO why some people (like you) are disappointed in her. Not because she is very horny but because she does not have much else going for her.
The romances you mentioned have faaaar more dialogue than what Mary got so even the equally horny ones look more complex due to so many opportunities to develop beyond that.
So I'm all for the devs giving Mary more content in future updates. No need to scratch her current character though to make way for a completely new personality.
But yes, it would not hurt to give Mary some content that would not revolve around Charles. Some hobby or something.
Helen used to be pretty boring.
