But we updated it - the graphics, the UI, the hundreds of little features - anything we were able to make it fit the year of 2024. And there's more to come.
The simple truth is this, and you said it yourself, - there is simply no alternative, there are no games like that. Because it is a unique and a very expensive (production wise) genre.
Now, we plan to move to UE at some point in the future, but we need to make this last push with Storm engine to get there.
You will have a chance to decide for yourself, but as the series veteran myself and, as I a hardcore gamer, my impression is that this game feels and looks like a new one, and offers a fresh experience.
Especially here in this picture with the guy carrying the sack

Im not a graphics junky, but i really cant tell if these graphics or gothic 3s graphics are better.
I dont mind it, and will still buy it if its any good.
Too bad the game is terrible, you see, it's the oposite of this one, good graphics, terrible story and it's linear, not open world.
The movements, combat are basically the same, just the textures are improved. I had it for a while on wishlist, but when I played the demo, I removed it instantly, there's no passion it seems, just a copy past with better graphics and without the open world, I mean just take a look at the reviews of people that bought it.
Why did you bring this garbage here? The real Sea Dogs developer has already written to you:
The simple truth is this, and you said it yourself, - there is simply no alternative, there are no games like that. Because it is a unique and a very expensive (production wise) genre.
is that why you cowardly write from an empty account, fearing a ban for false information?
Not possible.
You'd expect the ability to fit a gun to every different gunport on your ship and many games have already done that, playing Sail Forth got me back into the "I hope a good game like AOP2 COAS has finally arrived" mindset as games like that are in large demand (especially after asscreed 4 black flag) and on playing the (extremely generous, unless there's a time limit) demo I want to buy this game, even though it's on an over 20 year old engine and seems to just include features put in game by modders a decade ago.
I get that it's a demo, but if one gun type on a ship (historically chasers (culverins ingame) or carronades went up front for either long range shooting, or a sail in from behind and rake with huge cannonballs) is an engine limitation then that may be a dealbreaker for me and I am in the mindset of buying the game.
That pirate MMO from around 2010 allowed for mixed guns (IIRC), I can handle the guards constantly asking for a port pass, I can handle getting a hexadecimal memory address from the usurer when asking what the interest on a loan is (in fact, making interest impossible to understand got a bit of a laugh out of me), I don't mind the google translate English in parts (given current world events, getting a good English translator for a Russian dev may be hard) and I can handle the early 2000s on foot combat system.
However if I cannot outfit my ship the way I want in a game that's about ships and sailing in 2024, well, it's a "wait and see if this gets fixed" problem then,
I applaud you releasing a new game, though if the engine has such heavy limitations and the price is higher than about $15 you aren't going to see many sales, as modders have already introduced completely new stories into your older games so only the most die hard fans (and I'm a big fan of your older games) are going to buy it.
I really wish you the best of luck, the age of sail game genre has been lacking and many promised ultra modern games have been a huge letdown, I begged to get in to closed alpha of Naval Action before it even hit steam, paid full price, put in >400 hours and then the devs just left the game in a beta state.
I hope you guys have what it takes to modernize this game to bring it in line with even arcadey sailing games from the past 10 years, I'd even offer to bug test and give better lines for the janky translations for free, after buying a copy (so long as the price fits the age and limitations of the game engine) if you can actually get the engine to work with modern expectations,

Having played the older versions myself I have to say I was extremely excited with this remaster! It works very well on modern systems and you get used to the wonky old controls. The graphics arnt ground breaking but they hold up pretty well with the modernization, its not Sea of Thieves levels at all but its nostalgic and fits the game.
So if you can looks past the old graphics and the wonky ground controls the game can be a lot of fun!
