Someone showed up on Discord and admitted they pirated; they got a "Controller Disconnected" warning and interacting with it forcibly opened the game's Steam page.
Which is not unlike how Rabi-Ribi does anti-piracy.
Because some games load up the first couple hours with a lot of good content and then drop off after the cutoff for a Steam refund. Like, I wouldn't have refunded Starfield after 2 hours, but I was done with it after like 10.
I'm definitely going to buy this game, but probably not until it goes on sale.
I can sound cheap for telling a lot or every metroidvania should not be above max 25 bucks my point is there is a lot of people buying this and for the work, quality and time we spend on a metroidvania vs a open sandbox world for example that a lot are around 30-50 bucks but have almost infinite quality gameplay depending on each of em (Valheim, Smalland) which is more fair for the price and require way more work and programming than a metroidvania and also require more people to pay for creating and making the game good, stable and viable on long terms with many updates addons mods and such. A metroidvania even the best in the world and i like metroidvanias should not go upper than 20-30 bucks max range tax included. It is business and fair business I think.
but anyways you should've been able to just copy your save manually
and i'm sorry if you can't afford it
i'm broke like all the time but this game def was worth it.
as far as metroidvanias go its really really good and a huge upgrade from rabi-ribi
plus all the A-list voice actors, this game really doesn't feel indie at all
i'd play this over GOW or spiderman games these days.
For example, in my personal case I don't buy games on steam anymore, only on gog.
I'm tired of buying a game in steam, had to remove steamstub or another random drm, then adding an api emulator to the mix in order to play a game.
I don't care about the size of the company or anything else, it's a matter of trust;
just have a look at CDP, all Witcher games (>75M units sold), Cyberbug (>25M units sold), all of them sold without any kind of DRM.
And then on the other side of the coin you have Atlus, who are absurdly paranoid about piracy and waste money on paying Denuvo instead of improving games.
For what? For selling only 22M units for a total of 20 games of the persona franchise. 28 years to achieve that...
personally, if I were them, I would be ashamed, what a big L 🤣
I would love to know their total sales, given that I would probably laugh.
