Just finished the game and [SPOILERS]
This plot kinda sucks!
-The angels operate on continual genocide of their own undesirables, this is a plot point at a stage of the game and just gets swept under the rug and is never resolved
-Sabrina is terminally ill, this gets dropped even faster, with it again appearing only in passing at the end of the game, but is this resolved? Does she live? does she die? shrug.
-Sable is going to die, but is it mentioned whether he lives or dies in the epilogue? Nope! He's not even mentioned once! Presumably he does, I guess, and nobody thinks to remember him.
-What about the members of golden hand? Did they make it out? are they alive? idk because they also get dropped. This game has dementia.
-many boss battles start with everyone being an idiot for no reason, this works in something like rabi-ribi, but in a game that's trying to be serious, not so much
I'm sure I'll find more if I replay. It's funny that there's threads on how bad they think the art is, but nothing yet on how the story writing Just Sucks.

The game has a really downer ending. Tevi's dad and presumably Sable also die. Celica goes to work for Amarylis trying to get Tiberius's position. The issue with this is that Amary is ALSO bad and Celica is willingly still working under her. And considering Vena doesn't even show up in the ending it comes off with a lonely feeling for Tevi.

The multiple forced losses were BS. I can understand a couple maybe but you lose like 4 fights to cutscenes and never get a rematch.

It also bothers me that nothing bad happens to several of the bad guys in the game for the things they did. Vassago, Amary, Tiberius, the golden hind girl who killed the robot. May be realistic but I don't like it.

Thankfully the game is great besides the story.

I don't think Vassago was a bad guy in the story. All he did was: 1) give you money for reaching Tartarus; 2) collect some relics that Cyril later put Tahlia into (or Tahlia herself entered); 3) fight you (but honestly Tevi was kind of picking that fight too); 4) kill Sable as part of that fight (apparently wasn't intended); 5) just let Voodoo do its thing. (whatever it was, the game isn't clear on Voodoo)
Although he's not really a good guy either. He just kind of exists and does whatever?

Found it kinda hilarious you got edgy angel literally killing off imperfect angels, but when you clear Memine her challanges she gets grounded

Because what happens in Valhalla, stays… wait wrong city lol

But seriously it was mentioned that angles outside Valhalla have significantly less authority. Vergil ripoff was doing his thing entirely within Valhalla, so he gets a pass. Memine on the other hand was screwing around on Az which is problematic.

Yeah, the way they introduce and drop characters is pretty jarring. Remember Barados? Wtf was his problem? You fight him twice and both times he flees, and then you find a corpse of his demon clone killed by Cyril with no explanation.

Also what did Charon intend to do with Elysium that he was ok with walking through corpses? And why did he keep Dahlia sheltered? Guess we'll never know.

They literally said Fray recovered and was sent to Snowden where she was welcomed with open arms by people with similar malformed conditions.
She even shows up for a bit after you beat Jethro.

I loved the story. And for those of you complaining... yet still wanting resolutions...

I think that's proof that the story was good, actually. Not all stories have a happy ending, you know.

Hopefully we will have some more happiness in the DLC. But I think this story was explicitly stating a Christian message, e.g. happiness (Elysium) is not all it's cracked up to be.

There is a difference between a tragic ending and an ending that just straight up leaves several subplots unfinished and the fate of like a dozen characters unknown. Sable is probably dead, but you'd think you could do better for one of the main characters than "quietly probably killed offscreen and not so much as mentioned after"

I remember the days when gating off the main story through DLC was considered a ♥♥♥♥ move. How the times change.

Sable is actually in the credits roll if you pay attention.

And what character arcs weren’t resolved? Celia is looking to overthrow Tybrious and make changes within the angelic hierarchy. Fray recovered and is chilling in Snowveil. Jethro said he managed to signal his location to the other hands before he loses contact. The only arc that’s left completely ambiguous is Sabrina.

The ending puts closure on dealing with the big bad and the main quest of the Astral Gears. But Tevi says her journey isn’t over. We’ll likely see what Voodoo has in store for Sable and/or Sabrina in DLC.

Back in those days, the rest of the story was typically gated off by this thing people usually call a "sequel".
