The multiple forced losses were BS. I can understand a couple maybe but you lose like 4 fights to cutscenes and never get a rematch.
It also bothers me that nothing bad happens to several of the bad guys in the game for the things they did. Vassago, Amary, Tiberius, the golden hind girl who killed the robot. May be realistic but I don't like it.
Thankfully the game is great besides the story.
I don't think Vassago was a bad guy in the story. All he did was: 1) give you money for reaching Tartarus; 2) collect some relics that Cyril later put Tahlia into (or Tahlia herself entered); 3) fight you (but honestly Tevi was kind of picking that fight too); 4) kill Sable as part of that fight (apparently wasn't intended); 5) just let Voodoo do its thing. (whatever it was, the game isn't clear on Voodoo)
Although he's not really a good guy either. He just kind of exists and does whatever?
Because what happens in Valhalla, stays… wait wrong city lol
But seriously it was mentioned that angles outside Valhalla have significantly less authority. Vergil ripoff was doing his thing entirely within Valhalla, so he gets a pass. Memine on the other hand was screwing around on Az which is problematic.
Also what did Charon intend to do with Elysium that he was ok with walking through corpses? And why did he keep Dahlia sheltered? Guess we'll never know.
She even shows up for a bit after you beat Jethro.
I think that's proof that the story was good, actually. Not all stories have a happy ending, you know.
Hopefully we will have some more happiness in the DLC. But I think this story was explicitly stating a Christian message, e.g. happiness (Elysium) is not all it's cracked up to be.
I remember the days when gating off the main story through DLC was considered a ♥♥♥♥ move. How the times change.
Sable is actually in the credits roll if you pay attention.
And what character arcs weren’t resolved? Celia is looking to overthrow Tybrious and make changes within the angelic hierarchy. Fray recovered and is chilling in Snowveil. Jethro said he managed to signal his location to the other hands before he loses contact. The only arc that’s left completely ambiguous is Sabrina.
The ending puts closure on dealing with the big bad and the main quest of the Astral Gears. But Tevi says her journey isn’t over. We’ll likely see what Voodoo has in store for Sable and/or Sabrina in DLC.
o maybe he is not dead
