I REALLY miss the yuri and all-girls cast of Rabi
Honestly, given how Rabi Ribi was, I was expecting more girls in the cast and for them to be closer to each other, but, 3 chapters in now, I'm beginning to realize that it would be best for me to turn my expectations on that one front down to zero and place my hopes in the upcoming Love Bunny game from GemaYue. For those who finished the game already, would that be a smart thing to do?

I can't really communicate the depths of disappointment I felt when I realized Sable was a boy and that I wasn't going to have an all-girls travelling party, lol.

Anyway, it's an entirely personal preference thing, Still a very good game!

yeah, it was a bit of a shock to me as well, but the game is good. My advice for any rabi-ribi fans is that this isn't rabi-ribi 2. It shares significant gameplay similarities, is anime styled, and that's about it. Discard all other expectations.

Basically this, outside of the gameplay, the game is really a very different feel and doesn't really have the same spark for me that Rabi RIbi did.

yap, i would´ve written this down aswell.
and lol ... yuri ... there wasnt really "yuri" in rabi-ribi ... iunno if am allowed to explain what "yuri" is but if you would call it "yuri" would it go already further then just "close friendships" and there was nothing like that in rabi-ribi which went further into the ... NSFW territory XD.

I mean IMO it was pretty heavily implied that they did the deed when Erina was at Irisu's place ^^'

Otaku-brained gamer take from the chans. Game's a hell of a lot less tropey and filled with ridiculous bait, it's vastly improved over the tone of Rabi Ribi - Which I did complete, and enjoyed most of. It's still got traces of that art style and touches of a few overplayed gag tropes - Tevi's Dad figure is very much one of those "my daughter is best girl, I'll dress her up like my special interest" types for about 50% of his screen time a few hours in, but they move on from each beat pretty quick.

It's a few steps up in maturity from the otaku-bait thematics of RR, but still within sight of it.

This game is absolutely filled to the brim with tropes to the point that you can predict every plot element, it's just different tropes to Rabi-Ribi. Different strokes for different folks, but I prefer RR's storyteling which never really took itself seriously, meanwhile Tevi's plot and storytelling feels like one of the larger negatives for me

I like the cast being balanced, granted I never cared for Yuri in the first place and I loved RBRB

That was actually my main complaint with Rabi Ribi. I love the game, but all the girls in revealing outfits make me uncomfortable. I would feel embarrassed to be caught playing it.

Hearing that they toned it down considerably in this game to me is a good thing. It was always the spectacular boss fights that really made these games stand out. I don’t care for the fan service.

Rabi definitely has yuri in it. Yuri is all about the relationships between girls, and it doesn't necessarily have to be sexual, or even romantic (but it can be).

Kind of rude, but also, I'm not sure what you intend to accomplish with your smorgasbord of buzzwords there. Rabi's writing was pretty terrible, but that's not a function of the tools (or tropes, as you call them) it employed. It just lacked in the editorial department and pacing-minded revision, really. Everything else you're referring to is entirely a matter of taste. I would actually agree TEVI is a more "mature" game, but it's kind of naive to imply that higher maturity is just an unambiguous upgrade. You would probably get more enjoyment out of the media you choose to consume if you got out of the "Trope-Spotter" mindset. Media ought be taken holistically, in addition to further later analysis. Anyway, point is, there's nothing wrong with preferring the way Rabi does it or the way TEVI does it; it's just preference.

I mean I preferred the fanservice of Rabi and the revealing outfits, but that's also not what I was talking about. I'm fine with more-clothed women; I just miss the all-girls cast and the yuri (which doesn't have to be sexual; I just liked the girls and their various friendships-and-possibly-more).

Yep. I was always under that impression. I just didn't realize before playing the game just how far I had to take that mindset to adjust. Was not expecting the game to be this dark at all, for example. I miss the happy vibes and obvious MIDI-esque instrumentation of the music.

I'm starting to like it more now that the initial shock has worn off. There's some feelsy moments that are nice. Either way, I'm expecting Love Bunny to be a combination of a return to Rabi's cutesy tone while also mixing in TEVI's mechanical refinements and creating a truly 10/10 game. So, if nothing else, TEVI is really setting the stage for something amazing.

The real moment to go cry in the corner in despair was when MC took the rabbit ears hat off. I've never felt so juked in my life.

I know this is a pretty old topic, but as someone who actually cares about this stuff, is Tevi devoid of yuri/shippy stuff? I don't care really if it toned down the ecchiservice. I will welcome ecchiservice, but I don't fight for it. I just want cute shippable girls (even better if they're actually in a relationship, as some RBRBs were, whether people want to admit it or not....)

Any amount of het is a huge turn off as someone who's dealt with that always being pushed in my face by games for way too long. I get it's the norm, as much as society tries to say it's not, but I don't go for entertainment for any reason other than to be entertained(and to train my JP skills sometimes), so I see no reason to accept anything less than what I personally find appealing.

I'm fine with the story going darker, the designs changing even. But if there's no yuri/yuritext then it's not worth the time. I might youtube the story if it ends up being related to the rabi ribi sequel though...

I can think of some but there's one girl in particular who has (or had?) a female lover canonically , and for the rest i guess you have to use your imagination

Also Celia wants to hit things off with her goddess. And a buff cowgirl thinks Tevi is huggable. And I guess Tevi's (very brief) reaction to a certain casino bunny girl.

And the fanbase shipping Tevi and Vena.
