Why does the map mark items i've already collected, rather than items I am yet to collect? That isn't very helpful.

I used to think this was odd but it’s actually pretty good….its to keep you exploring and not knowing all the secrets. You get a compass that tells you how many items and other things in each area, and that compass has another upgrade and unsure if it may show the items later?

You can pin icons on parts of the map for areas you can’t explore or reach. Or if you see an item you can pin a shadow of the item etc.

Eventually we will get a guide online that will show the maps with items and can easily compare your map if you have the parts marked or not. It happened in Rabi Ribi and helped me find stuff.

Yeah, as the other guy said, you'll be thankful once the map has been explored by other people, and you can easily cross-ref and see where you are missing items

i don't want to use guides ideally when playing these games. If rooms tells you there is something there to get with a question mark instead, like in say 'Ender Lilies' that can be a pretty good system.

It's not the worst, I can mark my map as mentioned, just not my idea of ideal.

The idea is that once it's tagged on the map, you don't need to keep scouring that block for anything more. It'll also make cross-checking against a guide you look up a hell of a lot less painful.

I can see how that would be a good feature with a question mark. The issue here is that you know that something is in that room already and ruins the surprise aspect of exploration, and I find it exciting stumbling upon Items hidden through random walls to secret rooms.

That’s why the pin method is great, being optional, because you can mark if you see something you can’t get or reach and the compass will tell you x resources and x items in that area, and assume the next level compass may reveal location? Who knows.

You don’t need to use a guide, but when you finish the game or get stuck and need more money or items, you can easily cross check a guide for anything missed and it’s really efficient, and a welcomed feature since Rabi-Ribi.

That was one thing in Star Ocean Divine Force that made me give up on the platinum because it didn’t even mark chests open when I played it and was missing 1 and didn’t want to go through the whole game manually searching.
